The Nokia 6 – which received Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certification in May – is finally coming to the United States. The much-anticipated smartphone (which was until now sold in China) has been made available to the U.S. smartphone market and is currently up for sale. The Nokia 6 from HMD global will initially be offered only through Amazon. The e-commerce website offers the device in two iterations. Earlier in June, the company confirmed the device’s arrival on the U.S. market.

Amazon offering the handset

Amazon offers the Nokia 6 in two variants – the regular retail version and the cheaper model.

The less expensive model of the device6 comes with advertisement support for Prime members. While the original market price of the Nokia 6 is $229, Amazon (as part of a promotional activity) has further reduced the price to $179. Consumers will get access to the dual-SIM variant of the smartphone, which supports a limited set of bands.

The only network to get full support for Nokia is T-Mobile, while AT&T will give partial support for its 4G network. Unfortunately, Sprint and Verizon subscribers will receive no support for Nokia if they decide to buy the smartphone. The Nokia 6 is available for pre-order on Amazon’s website.

The handset will be released on August 18 in the United States. Consumers interested in buying the device can choose from two shades of blue and copper.

However, the copper color will be available only for the ad-free and more expensive Nokia 6 model. Although Nokia 6 is currently the most popular Nokia-branded device on the market, the smartphone has been marketed as a mid-range handset.

Specs and features

Given that the Nokia 6 handset is a mid-ranged device, it is fueled by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, which clocks at 1.4 GHz.

The handset comes with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage, with the option to expand memory capacity to up to 128 GB via a microSD card. The device boasts a 5.5-inch 2.5D full HD display and comes pre-loaded with Android 7.1 Nougat operating system.

In terms of audio, the Nokia 6 is equipped with a Smart Amplifier with a 7.2W peak output and Dolby Atmos sound system.

The handset comes with a 16-megapixel rear mounted and 8-megapixel selfie camera with dual-tone flash. The device also comes with a fingerprint sensor, which is built in the home button of the device. The handset also packs in a powerful 3,000 mAh battery.
