The much-anticipated Essential phone completely missed track with the company, failing to honor the 30-day shipping deadline. The Essential phone was unveiled at the end of May 2017. However, the company's founder Andy Rubin, who happens to be the former head of Android at Google had revealed that the phone would ship from their warehouse within 30 days.

According to reports, customers who had pre-ordered the device are yet to receive the shipment as of July 8 even though the estimated shipping time limit ended on June 29. The company is not responding to queries posted by not only customers but also news portals such as CNET and Business Insider.

Possible enhancement to camera

As of this writing, we don't have any idea as to why the company has delayed the shipment of the Essential phone. The rumors suggest that the product team is working to improve the performance of the camera. There could be a possible problem with sourcing of components from the supply chain.

Specifications

The main highlight of the Essential phone is the integration of a 5.71-inch bezel-less QHD (2560 x 1312) CGS LTPS display with an aspect ratio of 19:10. With a contrast ratio of 1:1000, the panel bears a brightness of 500 nits. It has become a trend for companies in 2017 to infuse thin displays to provide a premium look and feel.

Powerful processor with dual camera

On the internals, the phone is equipped with a Snapdragon 835 processor, Adreno 540 graphics, 4GB RAM, 128GB internal storage powered by a 3040mAh fast charging battery. While the rear side features a dual 13MP (f/1.85) sensor, the front-facing shooter is accompanied by an 8MP (f/2.20) sensor.

The phone incorporates sensors comprising of 13MP RGB and monochrome with image fusion technology. You will be able to shoot 4K and FHD videos at 30fps and 60fps respectively. Moreover, the Essential phone features UFS 2.1 storage technology, which helps you to read and write content quickly.

Modular compatibility

The Essential Phone provides support for modular accessories similar to that of the Moto Mods.

During the launch of the phone, the company had announced that they have bundled the product package with a module 360-degree camera, which can be affixed to the rear.

We don't have any clear information as to why the handset has been delayed. However, the company will have to answer several tough questions in the upcoming days. The silence of the company even after repeated queries by the media is not in good taste. The valuable money of customers is at stake.
