Ford’s 2018 Mustang GT is turning out to be quite a powerful vehicle when it comes to acceleration and sheer speed. In fact, recent testing has shown that the car will perhaps be the fastest sporty vehicle that Ford has ever developed. Other updates are also slated to be coming to the 2018 Mustang GT, which will make owners of previous year’s models seriously consider purchasing the newer car.

Among one of the most advertised traits of the Mustang GT, this year is its impressive pickup and accelerations. Ford revealed that the vehicle could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4 seconds, which is an amazing feat and is sure to leave many of Ford’s competition behind.

However, these speeds are achieved due to an all impressive new engine and transmission.

Ford 2018 Mustang GT features

The vehicle will sport a new 10-speed automatic transmission along with an upgraded 5-liter V-8 engine. It also comes with an electronic drag mode, which is essential in maintaining power even during gear changes in the 10-speed transmission. The V-8 engine has been upgraded to deliver 460 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque from 435 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque in the 2017 Mustang GT.

Last year’s model also sported a 6-speed Automatic Transmission, instead of the 10-speed one coming to the newer vehicle. Other updates include the drag-strip mode which was also not present in the predecessor, which meant it lost some of its power when the gear was shifted by the driver.

In the 2018 Mustang GT, Ford has added the new mode to ensure that the torque does not drop even between transmissions.

The 2.3-liter Ecoboost turbo models have also undergone an upgrade due to which these engines are also expected to hit speeds of 60mph in less than 5 seconds. Power wise, the engines will retain its 310 horsepower rating, while its torque has been increased to 350 pound-feet from the previous 320 pound-feet.

This model too will boast a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Ford has yet to reveal the pricing of the upcoming 2018 Mustang GT, but it is expected to be slightly on the higher side than its predecessor owing to the vast array of updates that it sports. More details regarding the pricing are supposed to be revealed in the coming months, where people can also expect the prices of the different models to be listed. Ford has stated that the company intends to launch the cars in the fall of 2017, so there may not be too long to wait for the people looking to buy these vehicles.
