After much anticipation, Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Oneplus, will be launching tonight its latest flagship, the OnePlus 5. While many of the device's specs and features have not been confirmed yet, there is a handful of info that has. In this piece, we are going to be covering everything we know about the Android smartphone, so far.

OnePlus 5: specs and features

Starting from the front, we expect to see a 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED Full Hd display (~401 ppi), covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for ultimate protection. Though, take this info with a grain of salt, as it is not confirmed yet.

What we do know for sure, tough, is that the OnePlus 5 will be powered by Qualcomm's 64-bit Snapdragon 835 (MSM8998) CPU, housing eight cores Octa-core (4x2.35 GHz Kryo & 4x1.9 GHz Kryo), accompanied by Adreno 540 GPU and 6GB of RAM - an 8GB edition might be available as well. Thanks to its 10nm FinFET design, the Snapdragon 835 saves a lot of space and is more power-efficient, compared to the former generation.

As far as the camera is concerned, the Verge published a report Today, suggesting that the OnePlus 5's dual camera setup will include a 16MP Sony lens and a 20MP telephoto lens, with 2X zoom, HDR, and 2K video. A camera feature that we reckon is portrait mode, enabling users to take ‘Bokeh’ style photos, with the object in sharp focus and the background blurred.

The front facing shooter should come with 8MP and full HD video.

Connectivity wise, the device will pack all the standard features, such as 4G, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS and Type-C charging port. FM Radio won't be available, so the user will have to download a third-party app to access it. A fingerprint sensor will be mounted on the front as well.

To accommodate the large display, OnePlus will be incorporating a non-removable Li-Ion 3,400 mAh battery, which should be adequate enough.

The OnePlus 5 will be coming with Android 7.1.1 Nougat straight out of the box.

OnePlus 5: pricing and options

As mentioned in the beginning, the device will be launching tonight, but we do not know much about its global roll out.

We know that the phone will go on sale in India on June 22nd, exclusively through Amazon India. Though, the company has not shed any light as far as Europe and US are concerned.

Relying on the previous generations' pricing patterns, we expect the OnePlus 5 to retail somewhere between $450 and $500, off contract. Three color flavors will be available: Gunmetal, Soft Gold, and Midnight Black.
