According to a report published by ETNews, LG may unveil its next-gen smartphone dubbed LG V30 at the IFA 2017. This would be the first time that the South Korean OEM will be introducing a flagship smartphone at the IFA event scheduled to take place in Berlin, Germany, in September. According to reports, LG may host an event of its own a day before the opening day of IFA 2017 which is scheduled to take place from September 1 until September 6. This means that the smartphone could be unveiled on August 31.

LG V30 to be introduced at IFA 2017?

LG V30 is the third V-series smartphone under the brand followed by V10 launched in 2015, and the V20 introduced in 2016.

The V20 was unveiled at two separate events held by the company, one in New York, the United States, and the other in Seoul, South Korea. If the report is to be believed, then LG seems to be quite confident about its upcoming smartphone and will also open pre-orders for the device.

After the unveiling of the V30, three South Korean mobile network operators will be offering the smartphone to consumers placing pre-orders. The pre-order period is speculated to last for a couple of weeks. The smartphone may bear a price tag of 800,000 KRW, which converts to around $699.98. It is also rumored that the price mentioned above will be for the 64 GB model of the LG V30.

Rumored design and specs

LG has tried to make the V30 different from its predecessors by incorporating a bezel-less design and OLED panel on the smartphone.

This is not the first time that the company has used an OLED panel on one of its phones (the G Flex-series came with OLED screens in 2014 and 2015), but the V-series handset will benefit from the OLED display for the first time. Moreover, the impending handset will be bezel-less like the LG G6 and may also come with dual rear camera setup and a second screen.

According to reports, the impending Android handset may come with a non-removable 3,200 mAh battery (unlike its previous editions), The smartphone may also be IP68 certified. Speculations are rife that the V30 will be fueled by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC and will retain the 3.5mm headphone jack. The handset may come in three variants – 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB.

The pricing of the smartphone is not known, but it is expected to be priced similarly to the 2016 model. Whether the company will introduce more exciting features in the impending handset such as an iris scanner - to challenge rivals - remains to be seen.
