Rumors have been rife for quite a while that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 8 will be bigger than its predecessor iPhone 7. Latest reports hint at the same. In an exclusive report, tech publication iDrop shared the alleged dimensions of the iPhone 8, which after comparison with iPhone 7 seem not only bigger, but also thicker and wider.

The information pertaining to iPhone 8’s dimensions was shared with iDrop by well-known leakster Benjamin Geskin, who based on the new sizes created mockup images of the impending handset. Thanks to the constant stream of rumors and leaks, the Apple handset has become one of most anticipated tech releases currently.

Furthermore the upcoming iPhone is also Apple’s tenth anniversary smartphone, which has further upped the curiosity factors amongst tech enthusiasts and Apple fans.

Earlier it was rumored that the handset will be similar to its predecessor in terms of dimensions. The prediction was made in 2016 by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. However, at the same time several rumors also pointed that the 2017 iPhone model will be slightly larger in size than its predecessor.

Leaked dimensions

The information about iPhone 8’s dimensions was provided to Geskin by internal factory workers who had intimate knowledge of Apple’s latest device. Geskin went on to provide the information along with the mocked up images of the iPhone 8 next to the iPhone 7 series.

iDrop claims that the workers confirmed that the tenth anniversary handset will be larger than the 2016 model in all aspects, including thickness. According to the factory workers, the iPhone 8 will measure 143.59 x 70.94 x 7.57 mm compared to iPhone 7’s 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1 mm.

While the iPhone 8 is alleged to sport 143.59 x 70.94 x 7.57 mm dimensions, the iPhone 7 Plus is still larger than the upcoming tenth anniversary handset with dimensions of 158.2 x 77.9 x 7.3 mm, as its height, width, and depth, respectively.

The 2017 Apple smartphone model will have a smaller physical appearance compared to iPhone 7 Plus, owing to its larger screen to size ratio.

Rumored specs

Rumors and leaks up until now have been consistent on a few major specs of Apple’s upcoming handset. Apparently, the successor of iPhone 7 range has strong chances of coming with a hefty A11 processor along with wireless charging abilities and an almost edge-to-edge 5.8-inch OLED display.

Apart from that, the smartphone is also rumored to come equipped with a vertical dual camera setup, as the feature was introduced with the current flagship. Leaks and rumors also point at 3D facial recognition capabilities to be integrated in the front selfie snapper.
