Elon Musk is a man on a mission, a mission to change the world. He's like a real-life Tony Stark in the way he does things, and that could see the rise of several great products in the future. For now, Musk is aiming to change the way we travel to space, and he's hoping he can bring down the cost of the journey lower than the expense of a College Degree.

The SpaceX CEO views the Red Planet, Mars, as the next frontier. For us as humans to colonize the planet, we must first manage to get the high cost down to a point where almost anyone can travel there.

Doing this won't be an easy feat, but at the end of the day, it needs to be done, and if there's one person who is capable of this, it's Elon Musk.

Traveling to Mars costs $10 billion per person

To put into perspective how expensive it is to send humans to live on Mars, Musk made it clear that to send 12 people to the red planet; it would cost space agencies around $10 billion per individual. That's quite expensive, and wouldn't work right now seeing as the flow of money isn't like it once was in the United States.

NASA isn't being funded as it should, and this makes it difficult for the space agency to make any drastic decisions.

To get things going, Musk is hoping to slip the price from $10 billion to $200,000, or even $100,000 per individual.

Now, going from $10 billion to $100,000 is no easy feat, which means, it's not going to happen anytime soon. Chances are, it might never happen in our lifetime, but with reusable rockets coming from SpaceX and other innovations, we have faith Musk, and his company is on the right track.

Still, our sense of thinking isn't on the same level as Musk, which is why he believes sending people to Mars for the sake of inhabiting the planet, can happen by the year 2023.

Now, that's something we'd love to see happen before our very eyes.

What type of ship is needed?

Apparently, to send 12 people to Mars, space agencies around the world will need to come together to build a massive spaceship. Musk says this particular ship doesn't need to be reusable, but it does need to have the ability to refill in space and be able to make trips every two years.

Now, as for the team that goes to Mars, they must have knowledge of how to create fuel on the red planet to send the ship back to Earth. The fuel will likely be composed of Methane, which isn't too hard to find on Mars.

Going to Mars is one of the most important things the human race must accomplish. If we can do it, then traveling to other planets in the universe for the sake of finding life will get easier.
