Owners of LG Stylo 2 Plus running on T-Mobile are in for good news, as the carrier has rolled out the much-awaited Android 7.0 Nougat update. The U.S. carrier announced the update rollout back in February this year, but much to the disappointment of users it did not put out the software update at the time. On Monday, May 15, the network operator announced once again that the Android N update is being currently pushed out for the smartphone.

The download file size of the Nougat update for the handset is 1112.28 MB.

Models sporting version number V55020a are eligible for the software update. Since the OTA update is being pushed out in phases by the carrier, it may take a couple of days to reach all users. The update also brings software stability improvements and bug fixes users’ way.

How to identify the model number

The Android Nougat update will successfully install only on LG Stylo 2 Plus smartphones running on version V55020a. Thus, it is imperative to check the model number of your handset before jumping the gun to install the update. To check the version of your smartphone, you will first have to navigate to the Settings menu of the handset. From here, choose "General" and then "clock" on "About Phone." If you are using the List view system in the Settings, scroll down and tap on the "Phone Management" option and choose "About Phone." Once you have reached this option, click on "Software Info" to learn the model number of the handset.

Updating the device

The LG Stylo 2 Plus can be updated in two separate ways - automatically through the OTA alert or manually by checking for the update via the smartphone. If you received the Android N availability OTA alert, then all you need to do is to download, install, and reboot the smartphone. In case of manually updating the device, you will first have to head to the device’s Settings followed by the "About Phone" section and then the "General" or the "Phone Management." From here simply go to "Update Center," "System Update," and then "Check for Updates." Once you have selected the last option, follow the screen prompts to update the smartphone.

T-Mobile advises LG Stylo 2 Plus users ensure that their smartphone has a minimum of 50 percent battery charge. It is important that you back up important data as well. Having access to a strong Wi-Fi connection is advisable for the smooth download of the update.
