HP introduced the latest 2-in-1 hybrid device dubbed as the HP Elite X2 1012 G2. The name is a mouthful and so are its specs and features. The latest device is a tablet with a detachable keyboard and is positioned in the market for business and IT professionals. This latest hybrid can compete with the popular Microsoft Surface Pro 4. With the latest pronouncement from Microsoft's Panos Panay about the possibility of not introducing new Surface pro device, the latest offering from HP might be the tablet that consumers have been waiting for.

Specs

The HP Elite X2 1012 G2 features a 12.3-inch WQXGA+ (2,736 x 1,824) resolution display with 450 nits peak brightness.

It is enclosed by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and has a 10-point multitouch sensor. It also comes with an HP Active Pen with freshly bolstered pen tip that features 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity. In addition, it has also lesser palm sensitivity for a better Windows 10 Ink experience.Moreover, it utilizes Wacom AES technology to render highly accurate capture of doodles and notes.

As for its design, the tablet part is just 0.36 mm thick. It only weighs 1.77 pounds and increases to 2.94 pounds and 0.57 thickness depending on the type of keyboard used.

There are a variety of processors and storage options available for the device configuration. For the processors, choices include the seventh-generation Core i3, Core i5, or Core i7 up to the maximum Core i7-7600U.

For its storage choices, the device can be configured up to 1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD. The company claims that the latest device has 10 hours of battery life. Interestingly, the device has a quick charge feature that can recharge 50 percent capacity of the battery for 30 minutes.

Moreover, the new HP Elite 1012 G2 has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with an infrared camera.

This will be used for authentication purpose in operating Windows 10 through facial recognition. It also has an 8-megapixel rear camera and a fingerprint reader.

In terms of connectivity, the HP Elite X2 1012 G2 has a USB Type-C 3.1 Thunderbolt port, a full-sized USB 3.0 port, SIM card and microSD card slots, and a 3.5mm headphone port.

it has also wireless connectivity options ranging from Intel dual-band 801.11ac Wi-Fim Bluetooth 4.2. Moreover, it has numerous choices for connecting to Global 4G LTE and WiGig mobile broadband networks.
