In the wake of self-driving and electric cars in the automobile industry, Harley-Davidson is planning to revolutionize its future models. The Milwaukee-based motorcycle manufacturer is gearing to release 100 new models in the next decade including electronic motorcycles. The company wants to consider making a subcategory for revolutionary bikes under its Bar and Shield product portfolio.
Project LiveWire
In a statement by Bill Davidson, the Vice President for the Harley-Davidson museum in Milwaukee, the inclusion of these revolutionary electronics motorcycles is high on the company’s plan.
The executive added that it has the Project LiveWire that showcased their own model of Electronic Bikes. As to the exact timeline for its release in the market, the Vice-President noted that the company cannot yet confirm the details. He further assured patrons and motorcycle enthusiasts that information will soon be released as soon as it becomes available.
It can be recalled that in 2014, the company introduced the project LiveWire. It has gained positive feedback from analysts who have dubbed it as revolutionary step since its more than a century presence in the industry. Harley-Davidson’s electronic motorcycle is parallel to the Iron 883 Sportster in terms of performance. When the prototype was introduced, it has the capacity to travel to as far as 85 km with a single charge.
Moreover, the LiveWire has a liquid cooled electric motor that produces 55kW and 70 Nm of torque. In addition, it has a 7 kWh battery pack.
V-Twins
The company has been very clear that the upcoming electric bikes will continue to adhere to its brand's philosophy, mission, and vision. On the issue of the electric bike dropping the impressive and distinct V-twin exhaust, the vice president assures that the principle they have laid out to the V-Twins is equivalent to the one applied to the electric motorcycle in terms of performance, sound, and feel among others.
Harley-Davidson's LiveWire electric bike is anticipated to be available in the next five years. With the growing number of green advocates, it is anticipated to revolutionize the motorcycle industry.
Recognition
Meanwhile, Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) recently released the names of the recipients that will be recognized at its 11th annual Courage Awards & Benefits Dinner.
The Annual event is presented by the United Services Automobile Association or USAA. During the Gala, warriors and supporters of WWP are given the proper recognition for their special contribution to the group’s mission. Harley-Davidson in the same event will be given the Service Award. The group recognized the company’s contribution to its efforts of supporting the warriors covered by the non-profit organization.
