The old west is one of my personal favorite time periods, and has been since I was a kid. As a gamer, there have not been many titles I found to depict my own view points of the old west -- with the exception of Rockstar’s “Red Dead” franchise. The grit in this series was perfectly depicted in the hit title “Red Dead Redemption,” and recently, when Rockstar announced a sequel, fans began to feverently grow in their anticipation for the game’s release.

'Red Dead Redemption 2' might be coming sooner than later

Last week there was some speculation on the release date being October 2, 2017.

This seemed to coincide with what was being reported, but that seems to have been a fluke, as the page with the information has been deleted, and Rockstar has since been quiet regarding the validity of that claim.

Today, however, the British store Gameseek appears to have some new information, listing the game's release as October 20, 2017. Is this the right information, or yet another hypothetical? Plus, will this be the release date for the U.K., or does this represent a global release?

Again, this is a rumored, but Rockstar stated that the game will be releasing this fall. Of course, any date in October would help the game be a lock for potential awards this season, Not to say this is a big enough reason to accept this rumor as fact, but it does give it more credibility.

Will this find the same success as ‘GTAV’?

Rockstar’s recent success, “Grand Theft Auto V” has once again climbed up the charts of top-selling games for the month in the U.K., this being its 174th week since its release. It, too, was released in the Fall. Rockstar is nothing else if not a company of habit.

“Red Dead Redemption 2” will return us to the old west that Rockstar created.

Recent information suggests that the game will follow similar character selection of “Grand Theft Auto V,” and will potentially be a prequel to the story of “Red Dead Redemption.” Either way, we know we are getting it this year, and only on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. I for one cannot wait. In the meantime, check out the debut trailer below.
