Harley Quinn and Deadshot of Suicide Squad fame will be hitting PS4 and Xbox One along with the silver screen soon as the two super villains join the #Video Game mayhem of Injustice 2. Who could be better suited for the dystopic universe of the NetherRealm Studios game than psychotic Harley Quinn and killer for hire Deadshot? Harley Quinn has entered the world of Injustice before but this is Deadshot's first time to appear as a playable character in the series.

'Injustice 2': the story

The game story continues along similar lines to the recent DC Comics movie universe, depicting a Gotham broken by Superman's destructive regime.

Batman is working to help restore civil society...and then a new threat emerges. DC Comics just released a new trailer for Injustice 2 that features Harley Quinn taking on everybody from Superman to Wonder Woman – and winning. Deadshot, it has to be said, gets second billing in the trailer. Although his few seconds at the end are compelling, they're nothing like the charismatic glee that lights up Harley's violent takedowns of her video game foes.

Harley and Deadshot in the game

If you've ever wanted to tweak Deadshot's costume or give Harley Quinn a few different fighting skills, the Playstation 4 or Xbox game allows players to customize their character's look, gear, and even their fighting style. The crossover characters may represent a sign of things to come. A piece in PlayStation Lifeststyle wonders whether the game makers will bow to the results of a fan Twitter poll recently conducted by NetherRealm Creative Director Ed Boon.

The fans voted in favor of seeing the characters Red Hood (Jason Todd) and Starfire enter the Injustice series.

Injustice 2 is the sequel to Injustice: Gods Among Us, released in 2013. The original Injustice did well for both NetherRealm and Warners, earning the title of best-selling video game in the United States in the first two months of its release in the spring of 2013 and remaining in the top 10 for months. Past popularity has led to a high level of anticipation for the sequel.
