Back on June 14, 2013, Naughty Dog released the hit game The Last of Us, and fans of the game have been begging for a sequel ever since.

Rumors surrounding Naughty Dog's plans to begin working on the second installment of The Last of Us began to spread several months ago, after Nolan North, who voiced David in the first game, said "I know they're doing a Last of Us 2" during a Q&A panel at MetroCon. But earlier this week, North retracted his previous statement, saying "Iapologize to Last of Us fans because I certainly don't know anything, and that's the truth."

Naughty Dog is getting ready to release Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, which will become available this coming April, and there has been some speculation that they're going to begin working on The Last of Us 2 following Uncharted 4's release.

Neil Druckmann, who was the writer and creative director of The Last of Us, shed some light on the status of a sequel to the game in an interview with PlayStation Magazine, saying that a prototype for a sequel was being put together.

"When Bruce Straley (the director of The Last of Us) and I moved over to Uncharted 4, we were brainstorming ideas for The Last Of Us 2," said Druckmann. "(We were brainstorming) new characters; ideas for TLOU 2 with Joel and Ellie; ideas for a sci-fi game; ideas for a fantasy game, and building prototypes for each one of those ideas. And just as we were getting close to settling or narrowing that list down, we were asked to work on Uncharted 4."

Now, it seems we have more info, including a working title for The Last of Us 2.

According to the Lawyer Herald, The Last of Us 2 will be titled "Days Gone," however, there was no info on who exactly would be in the game upon its release.

There are some who believe that Joel and Ellie's journey came to a perfect end in the first game, and there are also some who believe that there is still more of a story to tell with the two characters.

One of the ideas for The Last of Us 2 that's being tossed around at the moment involves the game being a prequel, where you play through Marlene's journey to becoming the leader of The Fireflies.

There have also been some suggesting that the game should feature the journey of Tommy, who is Joel's brother.

Of course, the majority of Last of Us fans want to see the second game pick up right where the first one left off, as they want to continue playing through Joel and Ellie's journey.

Due to the overwhelming success of the first game, the question isn't if Naughty Dog is going to release a sequel, rather, the question is when? At this point, no one knows, but we should find out quite a bit more about a Last of Us sequel following the release of Uncharted 4 on April 26.
