Samsung originally launched the Galaxy Tab S to compete with Apple's iPad Air. Now Samsung has announced a successor to the Tab S, the Galaxy Tab S2, which Samsung promises will be their most immersive tablet yet.

The Galaxy Tab S2 is among the slickest tablets ever. The tablet is just 5.6mm, and will be available in 8 and 9.7-inch models. The President of Samsung's IT & Mobile Division stated, "We believe the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is the most complete personal visual device designed for consumers to carry and use anywhere".

The Tab S2 boasts a Super AMOLED display. That has a 2048 x 1536 resolution, which is pretty much the same as the Apple iPad Air 2 tablet. Samsung has stated that the tablet's display will have a better contrast and color spectrum.

This tablet has a Quad 1.9GHz + Quad 1.3GHz, Octacore application processor. For storage, it has 3 GB (gigabytes) of RAM and 32/64 GB of internal storage space. Although you can expand this storage space to 128 GB with a microSD card.

The Tab S2 includes both photo and video cameras. It has an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 2.1 megapixel camera at the front. In comparison, the iPad Air 2 camera has just a 1.2 mp resolution. The cameras can also record video at 30 frames per second.

Multitasking is not something widely incorporated in tablets as of yet. However, the Galaxy Tab S2 supports multitasking for apps. The new tablet will allow you to run a couple of apps simultaneously. In addition, the tablet has a Pop-up Window, so that you can navigate between multiple apps.

As of yet Samsung has not revealed a recommended retail price for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2. However, it will come out in August. If the specs are anything to go by (see below), it could be a very good alternative to the Apple iPad Air 2.
