The NFL Power Rankings for Week 14 have arrived. While the NFL's top teams all continued their successful journey towards the postseason, the Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints flexed some serious muscle on Sunday afternoon.

Vikings take over top spot

Someone break up the Minnesota Vikings! The Vikings have jumped from No. 3 to No. 1 in the latest NFL Power Rankings. While it can be easily argued that several teams like New England, Pittsburgh and New Orleans could all be sitting at No. 1, the Vikings deserve their due.

Minnesota won their eighth consecutive game and improved to 5-1 on the road following their 14-9 victory over the defending NFC champion Atlanta Falcons.

It wasn’t pretty, but the Vikings defense shut down Matt Ryan and the Falcons as they moved a step closer to earning a postseason spot and clinching the NFC North division.

With the Philadelphia Eagles falling to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night football, the Vikings are now tied with Philadelphia for the best record in the NFC at 10-2.

Saints, Chargers making noise

Two other teams that have risen in the latest power ranks are the New Orleans Saints and L.A. Chargers.

New Orleans jumps from No. 6 to No. 3 on the heels of a 31-21 win over the Carolina Panthers. Drew Brees threw for 269 yards and a touchdown as the Saints continued their hot play.

Finally, let’s talk about a much deserving 6-6 team that may be the hottest squad that is currently getting overlooked.

After starting 0-4, the L.A. Chargers are now 6-6 and tied for first place in the AFC West. The old expression may be cliche, but right now it is true - “right now, you don’t want to play this team.”

The Chargers have been clicking on all cylinders since Week 5. Winners of three in a row and six of their last eight, Los Angeles could be the first franchise in the modern era to start a season 0-4 and win their division.

With four games left, the 6-6 Chargers will face the 6-6 Chiefs on Saturday, December 16 in a game that might decide the AFC West title. L.A. jumps from No. 13 to No. 11 in this week’s rankings.
