Cleveland Cavaliers have been dealing with numerous injuries so far this season, and isaiah thomas has yet to make his debut for the team. Thomas hasn't played in an NBA game since the conference finals this year, but his return is very close. The Point Guard is targeting the first week of January for his return, and there is a good chance that his first game will be against his former team, the Boston Celtics.

Cavaliers fans are optimistic and they are looking forward to seeing Thomas play for their team. Thomas, who was the third-best scorer in the league last season, can't wait to come back and help his team go deep in the playoffs and possibly win another championship.

According to the latest report, the Cavaliers guard tried to play on Wednesday, but the team did not allow him to do it.

Thomas tried to force Cleveland to play him

According to Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com, Isaiah Thomas tried to force the Cleveland Cavaliers to play him on Wednesday. However, the Cavaliers denied him and he had to sit another game out. The Cavaliers played on Sacramento Wednesday night, and they ended up losing to the Kings, 109 to 95.

Thomas' return probably wouldn't have meant much as the Cavaliers were completely outplayed by the Kings in the fourth quarter.

They lost their second straight game, but at least Thomas sat out and got a chance to recover more before making his debut.

It is obvious that Thomas feels good about himself and that he is ready to come back. This is a great sign, however, the Cavaliers shouldn't rush anything. The truth is that the superstar point guard is not needed right now.

Even though the Cavaliers lost three of their last four games, they will figure out how to bounce back and get on another win streak.

Thomas' return date

The Cavaliers play their next game Saturday night against the Utah Jazz. This will be their last game of the three-game road trip, as well as the last game of this year. While many fans believed that Isaiah Thomas could get some playing time in this game, ESPN's Dave McMenamin confirmed that this would not happen.

Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue said that Thomas would not play against the Jazz. However, Lue is encouraged by what he saw from Thomas and the point guard will scrimmage with the Cavaliers again on January 1, 2018. “He’s getting very close and we’re all excited,” said Lue.

The Cavaliers will open 2018 at home against the Portland Trail Blazers, and this could be the game where we finally see Thomas make his Cavaliers debut.

However, it appears that the point guard is targeting to return against the Celtics. After giving everything to the Celtics, they traded him to the Cavaliers last summer, and Thomas is now ready to get his revenge.

"I would like to play (against the Celtics), but I don't know," Thomas told reporters Friday. "I don't know if I'm going to be able to play, but I would love to play back in Boston. That would be a pretty fun game to play in, but I don't know. We're gonna see how today goes, see how I feel tomorrow."
