Champions League group matches will conclude this week with the competitions taking place both on Tuesday and Wednesday. Teams are scrambling for top spot positions in their respective groups so that they would meet runners-up from other groups. Some teams have qualified for the knockout stages sealing the top spots while other teams will confirm their participation in the next level of the competition based the results of their final group matches.

The first two teams in each group will progress to the knockout stages of Champions League while the teams that finish third in each group will earn a consolation prize for joining Europa League.

The draws for the Champions League knockout stages will be conducted on December 11, 2017. Here are the previews and predictions for Champions League matches that are being played on Tuesday, December 5, 2017.

Liverpool vs. Spartak Moscow

Liverpool needs a win to confirm their qualification to the next stage of the competition and seal the top spot in Group E. The Reds are unbeaten in the competition in this term, and they carry a superior goal difference, but a loss to the Russian side may see the end of Liverpool in Champions League participation. If Spartak Moscow beats Liverpool, the Russian giants will progress at the expense of the Reds due to better head-to-head record the same way Chelsea was eliminated in season 2012/13.

Liverpool goes into the contest fresh from the 5-1 thumping of Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend in Premier League, a result that took the Reds to the fourth spot in the league standings. Spartak Moscow is also fourth in the Russian league table after narrowly beating Arsenal Tula 1-0 on Saturday.

Given that Liverpool is playing at home where they haven't lost any match in all competitions, Jurgen Klopp's side is expected to finish top in the group with a win over the Russian champions.

Also, Liverpool's attack is on fire scoring at least three goals in six of their last seven matches in all competition. The Russian champions will bow out of the competition but win an entry to Europa League.

Prediction: Liverpool 3-0 Spartak Moscow

Maribor vs. Sevilla

Maribor is already eliminated from the competition so the Slovenian champions will be playing the match as a formality.

Maribor just has two points and therefore cannot qualify for both knockout stage and Europa League spot even with a win over Sevilla on Tuesday. Maribor hosts the Spanish side after beating Gorica 2-1 to go top of their domestic league standing.

Sevilla knows too well that they carry their chances of progress in Champions League in their hands. A win in Slovenia is enough for Eduardo Berrizo's side to qualify for knockout stages without minding the outcome of the other group match. Sevilla went to position five in the Primera Division standings with a 2-0 over Depotivo La Coruna on Saturday.

Last season, Sevilla was bundled out of Champions League finishing last in their group a season after winning three successive Europa League titles.

The Spanish team will try to erase the previous season's memory by beating Maribor to seal a place in the last 16 in the European elite competition.

Prediction: Maribor 1-3 Sevilla

Shakhtar Donetsk vs Manchester City

manchester city has already qualified for the next level of the competition after garnering the maximum points in the five matches they've played so far. Shakhtar Donetsk needs at least a point in the match to qualify as the runners-up in the group. If the hosts fail to get at least a draw against the Citizens, they risk losing the second position to Napoli who will be playing Feyenoord in another Group F match.

Given that Manchester City has qualified for the knockout stage, Pep Guardiola is expected to do a massive team rotation to reserve players for their Manchester derby contest in the coming weekend.

The game pits the two sides that are comfortably leading their respective leagues, and Ukranian will try to get even the spoils to advance to the next round of the competition.

Manchester City has struggled in their last three matches in all competitions and could taste their first defeat after going on a winning streak of twenty matches in all competitions. The expected team rotation coupled with the hostile weather in Ukraine could make things work in favor of the hosts.

Prediction: Shakhtar Donetsk 2-0 Manchester City

Feyenoord vs. Napoli

Feyenoord will just be honoring the fixture as they host Napoli in Rotterdam in the final group match on Tuesday. Giovani van Bronkhorst's side has no chance whatsoever for even qualifying for even making it to Europa League after losing all their opening five group matches.

However, the Dutch team will have a say on who joins Manchester City in the round of sixteen as they host Napoli.

Napoli travels to the Netherlands precisely four days after tasting the first defeat in the Italian Serie A at the hands of Juventus on Friday. The Italian team must beat Feyernoord and pray that Manchester City beat Shakhtar Donetsk by a wider margin in the other group match for Mauricio Sarri's men to qualify for the knockout round.

Even though Feyenoord was able to beat Vitesse 1-0 at the weekend, the Dutch champions are expected to exit the competition without earning any point. Despite losing to Juventus in the domestic league, Napoli will be fresh for the contest given that they played their league match on Friday.

Napoli is destined for a victory, but their qualification to the knockout phase remains unclear.

Prediction: Feyenoord 0-4 Napoli

RasenBallsport Leipzig vs. Besiktas

The German last season's surprise package hosts Besiktas after suffering a humiliating 4-0 defeat at the hands of Hoffenheim at the weekend. The Bulls need to beat Besiktas and pray that Porto fails to bag the maximum points from Monaco in the other group Group G contest for the German outfits to make it to the knockout phase.

Besiktas goes into the match fresh from the 3-0 defeat that they handed Galatasaray at the weekend. The Turkish champions have already qualified for the next level of the competitions as the group leaders. Given that his team is still in position four in the Turkish top-flight league, Senol Gunes will most likely rest his key players for the trip to Germany on Tuesday.

The hosts are the favorites to prevail in the contest as they'll field their best team in front of the home fans in pursuit of the runners-up slot in the group.

Prediction: RassenBallsport Leipzig 3-1 Besiktas

FC Porto vs. Monaco

FC Porto just needs to match the result that RassenBallsport will get against Besiktas for the Portuguese giants to progress to the knockout phase of the competition as the group runners-up. The 2004/05 European champions have drawn in all their last three matches in all competitions including the 0-0 draw at the weekend against Benfica.

With just two points, Monaco will finish bottom in Group G even if the French champions beat Porto in their final Champions League match this season.

After losing three consecutive matches in all competitions, Monaco won 1-0 over Angers on Saturday to go second in French League 1 table.

The game pits the two sides that met in the Champions League finals of 2004/05 and the eventual winner of that period looks certain to come top at the blow of the final whistle. Leonardo Jardim will not risk fielding his dependable players in the contest given that his side has no prospect whatsoever for qualification in the match.

Prediction: FC Porto 3-0 Monaco

Tottenham Hotspurs vs. APOEL Nicosia

Tottenham Hotspurs has already qualified for the knockout stage, but the Londoners haven't confirmed top spot finish in Group H. The Spurs who are struggling in Premier League just need a point to seal the pole finish in the group.

Mauricio Pochetino's men go into the contest at the backdrop of a four-match winless streak in Premier League. The corresponding contest of the match in Cyprus ended 3-0 in favor of the North-Londoners.

A victory for APOEL Nicosia over the Spurs could see the Cyprus champions qualify for Europa League should Real Madrid beats Borussia Dortmund in the other Group H match. Likewise, George Donis men can make it to Europa League with a draw in Wembley if Real Madrid defeats Borussia Dortmund.

The Spurs are expected to rest several key players with Mauricio Pochetino plotting to bounce back in the Premier League title quest. Even with the massive changes in the team, the Spurs will most likely beat their visitors to finish top in Group H.

Prediction: Tottenham Hotspurs 4-1 APOEL Nicosia

Real Madrid vs. Borussia Dortmund

The competition's defending champions have already booked their ticket to the knockout stage but are still angling for a top finish in Group H. However, Zinedine Zidane's men can only become group winners if they beat Borussia Dortmund at Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday and Tottenham Hotspurs loses to APOEL Nicosia in the other group match.

Borussia Dortmund just needs to match the result that APOEL Nicosia will get in Wembley for the German side to finish third and head straight into Europa League. Real Madrid manager could make the game simple for the German side if he rests his dependable players given that the Madrid team is already trailing Barcelona by a massive eight points after just fourteen Primera Division matches.

Prediction: Real Madrid 1-3 Borussia Dortmund
