For India, Chetheswar Pujara (121) and Virat Kohli (54) are on the crease. Earlier, opening batsman Murali Vijay (128) too scored a ton for the hosts.

Murali Vijay along with Chetheswar Pujara put up a second wicket partnership of 209 runs which played a crucial role in stabilizing India's position in this game.

For Sri Lanka, Lahiru Gamage and Rangana Herath picked one wicket each. Dilruwan Perera failed to live up to the expectations, and he conceded 117 runs in his 21-over spell at an economy rate of 5.57. It was Virat Kohli who punished Perera to the maximum, and in one of his overs, the Indian skipper hit consecutive boundaries against the off-break bowler.

Earlier, Sri Lanka who won toss elected to bat first, and ended their first innings with just 205 runs on board. Only Dimuth Karunaratne (51) and Dinesh Chandimal (57) showed some kind of fighting spirit in the Sri Lankan side, while the remaining batsmen literally failed to pose even a minute threat to the Indian bowling attack.

It was the spin bowling of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja which shattered the Sri Lankan batting. Ashwin picked four wickets in his 28 over spell, while Ishant Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja grabbed three wickets each.

In all probabilities, India will be trying hard to reach a score above 500 within the lunch, so that they can pressurize the Islanders during the second innings.
