This weekend is the huge game between two of the biggest rivals in NFL history - the Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys. While the Cowboys have struggled for much of the season, their offense finally came alive last week against the San Francisco 49ers. They now sit at 3-3 and are tied with the Redskins in the NFC East, which makes this Sunday's game very important at this early point in the 2017 NFL season, making the Josh Norman injury status something to watch.

Josh Norman talks injury

Josh Norman has not played since the fourth week of the NFL season, his last game being a Washington Redskins loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

In that game, the Redskins watched four cornerbacks fall to injury, including Norman, Montae Nicholson, Kendall Fuller and Quinton Dunbar. Safety Deshazor Everett also went down, leaving the Redskins with just four defensive backs healthy in the fourth quarter.

The Redskins split the next two games, beating the 49ers and then losing to the Philadelphia Eagles, and that is something that bothers Norman. According to the Pro-Bowl caliber cornerback, he wanted to play last week against the Eagles. However, he didn't play and now he hopes that can change against the Cowboys on Sunday.

"I turned finally for the first time and actually got active," Josh Norman told ESPN. "I don't see any problems or reasons why I can't go this week."

The Washington Redskins need Josh Norman on the field to contain Dallas Cowboys wide receiver, Dez Bryant.

However, Norman can only play if the Redskins' team doctors clear him. Last week, while Josh wanted to play, he said his own mother didn't want him in the Eagles game because it even hurt when he sneezed.

Redskins vs. Cowboys

The Washington Redskins need this win to move ahead of the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East. There is still a chance that Dallas could lose Ezekiel Elliott for six games sometime this season and a win on Sunday would put the Redskins in the driver's seat with if the Cowboys end up short-handed in the second half of the season.

Interestingly, the Josh Norman injury news was not the only time that the press has mentioned the Washington Redskins cornerback this week. Norman just starred in a commercial for Samsung Mobile with none other than Dallas Cowboys star receiver Dez Bryant.

As much as the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Redskins hate each other, Dez Bryant and Josh Norman have blasted each other on numerous occasions in the past, both players calling the other overpaid and overrated. However, this new commercial might ease that tension a little.

Or not.

"Things are all good and well now," Josh Norman said, "but who knows where it may go when it gets to a game-time situation.”
