However, the home team came alive in the fourth, scoring 21 points to take over the lead and ultimately win the game. Here's a look at the Colts vs. Titans game recap with top performers, statistics, a standings update, and a look at what's next on the NFL schedule.

NFL game recap

After a 6-3 lead by the home team in the first quarter, the Indianapolis Colts took control of tonight's game in the second.

The Colts scored 10 points including an eight-yard touchdown pass from Jacoby Brissett to Jack Doyle. Indianapolis held a 13-9 lead at halftime. In the third quarter, they extended to a 19-15. The Colts got on the board with a 26-yard interception return by John Simon but Adam Vinateri would miss the extra point kick. Ryan Succop had two field goals for the home team.

In the fourth quarter, Marcus Mariota and the Titans started a huge comeback. First, DeMarco Murray had a three-yard TD run after the Titans had a 15-play 87-yard drive. Vinateri gave the visitors another field goal to tie the game 22-22. However, Tennessee wasn't done as Mariota found Taywan Taylor on a 53-yard strike for a TD.

With under a minute to go, Derrick Henry's 72-yard run for a touchdown gave Tennessee the 36-22 lead and win.

Mariota would finish with 306 yards and a touchdown pass on 23-for-32 passing in the game. Brissett had a 21-for-37 performance which netted 212 yards and a touchdown. Another star for Tennessee was clearly running back Derrick Henry.

He finished with 131 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. Receiver Eric Decker led with 88 yards on seven catches, while Taiwan Taylor had two catches for 61 yards and the TD.

Standings and what's next

With tonight's defeat, the Indianapolis Colts find themselves at the bottom of the AFC South with a 2-4 record overall. The team is still clearly missing the services of star quarterback Andrew Luck.

They'll try to bounce back next week when they play the Jaguars at home. That game takes place next Sunday at 1 p.m. Eastern Time in Indianapolis.

Tonight's big win moves the Tennessee Titans to 3-3 for the season. They're now at the top of the AFC South division with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Houston Texans right there with them. Next up for Tennessee will be a game at the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, October 22nd at 1 p.m. Eastern Time.
