The Cleveland Cavaliers played against Boston Celtics on Tuesday night. The Cavaliers outlasted the Celtics in a tight opening game of the NBA regular season with a final score of 102-99. With no doubt, LeBron James led his team to a win against the Celtics as he scored 29 high points, with 63 percent shooting from the field,16 rebounds, and nine assists. The Cleveland Cavaliers averaged 45.8 percent shooting from the field, 22.7 percent in three-point shooting, with 17 turnovers and 49 rebounds.

Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics were shocked due to the injury suffered by Gordon Hayward in less than six minutes in the game.

It resulted in a 10-point deficit in the first quarter to Cleveland Cavaliers. After the Boston Celtics composed themselves from Hayward injury, they quickly close the gap of an 18-point deficit in the second half of the game but wasn’t enough to beat the Cavaliers.

Gordon Hayward’s injury

The Boston Celtics star, Gordon Hayward, was forced to leave the game against Cleveland Cavaliers as he suffered a gruesome leg injury. According to ESPN.com, Hayward's left leg bent awkwardly after he went up for an alley-oop pass, collided with LeBron James and collapsed under the basket with six minutes and 45 seconds left in the first quarter. Michael Wilbon of ESPN said that Hayward will have surgery on Wednesday for his fractured ankle.

Tim Bontemps of the Washington Post said: “Hayward's foot looked to be at a 90-degree angle from his leg.”

After the game, Coach Brad Stevens said that Hayward suffered a fractured tibia and a dislocated ankle.

According to ESPN.com, Hayward agreed to a maximum of four years deal worth $128 million with Boston Celtics. The 27-year-old player will obviously not play for the meantime as he will be resting to recover from his injury and this will be very devastating to the Celtics.

Cleveland Cavaliers versus Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics were very shocked due to Gordon Hayward’s injury but they definitely gave a good game against Cleveland Cavaliers. The team averaged 40.9 percent shooting from the field, 25 percent from the three-point shooting, with 12 turnovers and 46 rebounds. The Celtics gave a tight opening game to the Cavaliers as Jaylen Brown scored 25 points with six rebounds, followed by Kyrie Irving with 22 points, four rebounds, three steals, and 10 assists.

Meanwhile, the Cavaliers showed a great game to kick-off the start of the NBA regular season. With Lebron James leading the score of the Cavaliers with 29 points followed by Kevin Love with 15 points and 11 rebounds. The Cavaliers showed a great team play as Derrick Rose scored 14 points with four rebounds and two assists. Jae Crowder also added 11 points with five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. The great teamwork of the Cavaliers gave them their first win in the NBA regular season.
