On October 12, the Dallas Mavericks faced off against the Atlanta Hawks while the Sacramento Kings played against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Los Angeles Clippers rested key players that are reported to have injuries including Patrick Beverly, Austin Rivers, Danilo Gallinari, and Sam Dekker in their game against the Kings; only 12 players were listed as active players on the Clippers' roster.

Dallas Mavericks vs. Atlanta Hawks

The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Atlanta Hawks 108-94; the Mavericks moved up to 4-1 while the Hawks fell to 2-3.

Atlanta's forward Kent Bazemore led all scorers with 20 points while shooting eight out 12 from the field with three out of five from the three-point line; he also added six rebounds, five assists, and one steal. Teammate Dewayne Dedmon grabbed ten rebounds to lead all players; he also added seven points, one steal, and one block.

Dallas' shooting guard Gian Clavell led the Mavericks with 19 points, five rebounds, five assists, and one steal while Maalik Wayns led all players in assists with six. Wayns also tallied ten points, four rebounds, and one steal.

Sacramento Kings vs. Los Angeles Clippers

The Sacramento Kings got their fourth loss of the NBA preseason as they lose to the Los Angeles Clippers, who improved to 2-2, with a score of 104-87.

DeAndre Jordan led the Los Angeles Clippers as he scored 13 points while adding game-high 14 rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block.

Teammate Blake Griffin led all players in scoring with 18 points in seven out of 13 shooting; Griffin also had four rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

Clippers' point guard Milos Teodosic had six assists to lead all players. He also added eight points, two rebounds, two steals and one block.

Sacramento Kings' rookie point guard Frank Mason III led Sacramento with 13 points, three rebounds, four assists, and one steal.

The Kings lost point guard George Hill after suffering a groin injury and is considered to be questionable for their regular season opener against the Houston Rockets.

The Sacramento Kings also lost shooting guard Bogdan Bogdanovic at the end of the third quarter to an ankle injury. Bogdanovic finished the game 13 points in five out nine shooting, three out of four from three, and one rebound.
