Arguably the biggest game of the regular season for two Eastern Conference foes, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics, is just about upon us. Kyrie Irving made the huge decision to leave the 2016 NBA champions to chase a "superstar of the team role," instead of being in LeBron James’ shadow. It was a decision that shocked NBA fans and media around the world. To his delight, the Cavaliers listened to his trade demand and traded him to the Boston Celtics for their All-Star Isaiah Thomas, young two-way star Jae Crowder, rookie center Ante Zizic, and a first-round draft pick originally from the Brooklyn Nets.

This trade has worked for both teams, as Boston got a very young superstar talent and the Cavaliers got more depth. Kyrie Irving has expressed his happiness with the trade and how it went down.

Although LeBron James can’t wait to get the chance to play against the Celtics, there is still some doubt he can play after injuring his left ankle during training camp and re-aggravating it during a game in the preseason against the Chicago Bulls. But with a lot of rest days and a lot of treatment LeBron James could be in a position to step back on the court on opening night.

LeBron tweets his hope to play on opening night

Opening night is a big night for the NBA and all teams involved. The Cleveland Cavaliers players and fans hope to see LeBron James on the court, and so does the man himself.

Recently, LeBron James did an interview with newly recruited teammate and great friend Dwyane Wade. After retweeting a tweet from interviewee Rachel Nichols, he briefly talked about his excitement to get back on the court with his good friend and he also made sure it was mentioned that he hopes to be ready for the game “tomorrow night” (Tuesday night).

Not even LeBron James knows if he will be able to play in this game, so some fans have suggested LeBron rests as its just one regular season game.

But teammate JR Smith has spoken up and assured that the King will play, while Coach Lue is undecided but believes James will be “okay.”

Revenge on Kyrie?

LeBron James normally doesn’t argue when he is advised to rest with a little injury like this one, but the first game of the season against the Boston Celtics and Kyrie Irving is a game he just doesn’t want to pass up. James spoke about the fact that he has never missed the first game of the season in his life. Although he hasn’t mentioned it as a reason, his desire to get some revenge on Kyrie Irving for bluntly leaving the Cavaliers in the offseason without telling him is probably a strong desire.

So, in less than 24 hours, we will see if LeBron James does indeed play in the game against the Boston Celtics, but either way, it should be a very entertaining game and probably an even more entertaining game if Bron’ Bron’ suits up in the new wine and gold Nike uniform.
