Derrick Rose has had a pretty successful career in the National Basketball Association till this point, but he has faced a significant amount of ups and downs. Ups included Rose’s MVP season and playoff run to the Eastern Conference Finals, but his downs have been his injuries which have had a profound effect on how his career has been written.

Many saw a potentially legendary career in store for D-Rose when he went off in the 2010-11 campaign and won the MVP award after a terrific season, leading the Chicago Bulls to the first seed in the Eastern Conference while averaging 25 points, 7.7 assists, 4.1 rebounds, 1 steal, 0.6 blocks on 43.5% shooting in 81 games.

This was easily the healthiest, and best season of Rose’s young career as he led his Team to the East Finals but unfortunately lost in 6 games to the LeBron James led Miami Heat. Since that time though, injuries have posed major road bumps to Derrick’s career and has slowed him down, even though he is still 28 years old, many people see him as being out of his prime.

But with a new team this upcoming season, and signing a contract based on basketball, not money. Derrick Rose is looking to have a spectacular all-star worthy season once again. LeBron James has talked about his excitement for Rose to prove himself and show everyone that he is back to his MVP form, and Rose has spoken about feeling as good as he ever has and being excited for the season to get started.

Rose has a lot to prove to a lot of people, and he is ready to do so.

Derrick Rose likes this Cavs team

Derrick Rose chose to join the Cleveland Cavaliers this season on a veterans minimum deal worth just over $2 million for the 2017-18 season. This proves that D-Rose is ready to win, and is choosing success in his basketball career over a little more money.

It’s obvious that Derrick is worth more than that amount of money being a former MVP, but right now it’s all about winning for the point guard, he says the team is “playing for a championship.”

During an interview at practice on Thursday, Derrick Rose spoke about the team he calls the best he’s ever played on. Derrick said: “This is the best team I’ve ever played on, it’s the most space I’ve ever seen on the floor ever since I came into the league… Look like imma be playing without a lot of double teams or without a lot of people loading up to me… I see there is a lot of space.”

Derrick Rose will for the first time in his career be in a situation where he won’t get double teamed.

Playing with players like LeBron James, Kevin Love, Isaiah Thomas and Dwyane Wade, defenders will not want to double team the point guard and leave someone else open.

Breakout season?

With all the space and the easier looks, Derrick Rose will look to be getting this season; there are talks that the point guard might have a breakout season, and play to his potential for the first time in years. Obviously, injuries have slowed him down each year since 2011. He has had some weeks where he has played well, other weeks where he has played poor but going into the 2017-18 season he is back and in great shape. With no injuries right now, and nothing slowing him down, Derrick is looking forward to proving himself this season with his new team, and we will just have to watch and see what happens.
