The Buffalo Bills were not supposed to be 3-1 right now. Their wide receiving corps took a massive hit during free agency. Sammy Watkins, Marquise Goodwin, and Robert Woods jumped to NFC teams. Justin Hunter ended up with the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, the Buffalo defense has been spectacular this season. According to Buffalo Rumblings, the Bills have allowed the least points this year with 54 and only gave up one passing touchdown. Coach Sean Mcdermott took over as head coach this season. It is his first time as a head coach.

Enter Sean McVay.

He is a first-time head coach for the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams have scored 142 points this season, which is the most for any NFL team this year. Like Buffalo, Los Angeles was supposed to be a lackluster team -- also 3-1. Both franchises have surprised fans and sports analysts, who have taken notice of the teams. Can these dark horses make the playoffs? The Battle of the Seans is just getting started.

Buffalo Bills' defense is steel shut-down

The way that the Buffalo defense is playing is how NFL teams advance to the post-season. They shut down two top teams in the league. The Denver Broncos could barely get their offense off the ground in Week 3. Buffalo marched into the Atlanta Falcons’ stadium this past Sunday and picked off Matt Ryan two times, forced a fumble, and kept the Falcons out of the end zone on a fourth-and-one with 22 seconds left in the game.

The Bills’ secondary, which was supposed to be their weakest link after the loss of cornerback Stephon Gilmore to the Patriots, is one of the strongest parts of their defense. Cornerbacks Tre’Davious White and E.J. Gaines have been phenomenal with interceptions and pass break-ups. Safety Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer have been star players who save touchdowns and pick off quarterbacks.

The team’s front four has also played with the pedal-to-the-metal. The Bills' offense needs some work, but quarterback Tyrod Taylor is getting better and he has LeSean McCoy. The Buffalo defense has kept them in every game this year. Coach Sean McDermott is doing something right. There is a reason Buffalo leads the AFC East.

The Rams' potent offense is firing

The ironic twist about the Battle of the Seans is that the Rams picked up Watkins and Woods from Buffalo during the offseason. Like wide receiver Cooper Kupp, Woods has 186 yards receiving, as stated by ESPN. Watkins has over 200 yards for the season. Quarterback Jared Goff is in his second year and has over 1000 yards and 7 touchdowns. His comfort with his offense is making the league take notice. Running back Todd Gurley has close to 600 yards rushing and receiving. The Rams' defense needs some work, but right new coach Sean McVay is making sure the offense fires on all cylinders. The NFC may have a new playoff team.

Could Sean McDermott and Sean McVay meet in the Super Bowl?

While Las Vegas probably says it is a long shot, experts predicted the New England Patriots to have a perfect season this year. However, they are 2-2 with a defense giving up close to 450 yards per game. Anything can happen in the NFL. The Battle of the Seans is heading into Week 5.
