Brandon Reilly may be the poster guy for the undrafted. The Buffalo Bills picked up the Nebraska Cornhusker after other NFL teams passed on him in the 2017 draft. Reilly has been Buffalo’s shining wide receiving star throughout the pre-season. In fact, he leads the receivers with 11 receptions and 139 yards, as stated on Fox Sports. With Dez Lewis just cut today from the Buffalo Bills’ roster today, Reilly has a good shot of making the team. Can he beat out Philly Brown or Andre Holmes?

The Rise of Reilly

The play of Brandon Reilly has been a pleasant surprise.

He has made tough receptions in every pre-season match-up Buffalo has played this year. Reilly hauled in an impressive corner end zone pass from T.J. Yates that landed him his first touchdown in the NFL against the Philadelphia Eagles. In yesterday’s game against the Detroit Lions, quarterback Nathan Peterman found Reilly for a nice third down conversion.

Reilly has some competition at the wide receiver position. Rookie Zay Jones and veteran Jordan Matthews seem to be a lock for the top two spots. That leaves Andre Holmes, Corey Brown, Brandon Tate, and Reilly for remaining spots. If Buffalo retains 6 wide receivers, all of them should make the roster. Holmes has been somewhat unimpressive with 3 catches for 20 yards.

Tate has proven himself as a solid punt and kickoff returner. According to NFL.com, Brown has 6 receptions. He is also a decent blocker. Reilly gets himself open and has hauled in some jump balls.

Twitter Users Fear Bill Belichick

Reilly has gained a huge fan following. Twitter users are worried that Bill Belichick will end up with Reilly if Buffalo does not add him to their team roster.

Belichick has used the Bills as his farm team, as he signed former Bills Stephon Gilmore, Scott Chandler, Mike Gillislee, and Chris Hogan to the Patriots. Fans are nervous that Reilly not making the roster could spell AFC East trouble for the team.

Said EJ @ejtowne on Twitter today, “If the Bills cut Brandon Reilly he'll end up in New England as Bill Belichick's new Julian Edelman...

Bank on it.”

Another fan expressed similar sentiments, as Kurt@Rambis283 tweeted yesterday, “The minute the Bills release Brandon Reilly the Patriots will pick him up and he will have 50 catches.”

The Buffalo Bills have until 4 p.m. tomorrow to trim their roster. Will Brandon Reilly make it on to the Buffalo Bills? Fans of the former Nebraska athlete are pulling for the wide receiver.
