On Sunday, two of the teams that will be in the postseason meet up at New York City's Madison Square Garden. The Los Angeles Sparks have already clinched a playoff berth and after defeating the Minnesota Lynx, are trying to climb closer to taking the top spot in the WNBA. The New York Liberty have won two in a row now and continue to hold onto their playoff spot. Who will win as Nneka Ogwumike and Tina Charles collide in New York? WNBA game preview
The Los Angeles Sparks enter the game winners of four of their last five games, including their most recent victory, a 70-64 win over the Lynx in Minnesota. Chelsea Gray scored 23 points on 8-of-17 shooting to lead her team to the win. The Sparks are the second-best overall in the WNBA standings, and trail the Lynx by 2.5 games for the overall lead. Both teams should receive byes deep into the playoffs unless the Sparks lose several games while the Connecticut Sun keep winning.
Meanwhile, the New York Liberty are on a two-game winning streak, but prior to that lost to the Sparks in Los Angeles. New York's wins have come against the struggling Atlanta Dream and Indiana Fever.
Still, the team is 14-12 overall and sits at fifth overall in the playoff standings with the Phoenix Mercury a half game behind them. New York appears like they should qualify for the postseason, barring a catastrophic meltdown with a serious losing streak.
The visiting team are three-point favorites to win today's game, with a moneyline price of -140 to -150.
The New York Liberty are +130 underdogs at several sportsbooks. For the over/under Odds Sharks lists 158.5 points for the game.
