Ospina to stay at Arsenal, amid strong interest from Fenerbahce

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confessed it was tough to keep hold of David Ospina amid strong interests from several club sides around Europe.

Wenger said: “It was not easy, because of course all these players want to play. They're top-level players, they want to go to the World Cup, but he'll get a number of games here, and he'll fight with Petr Cech. The fight is quite open. At the moment I play Petr Cech but this contest is not won definitely by Cech because I rate Ospina highly, we play other competitions, and he'll feature.” The Colombia international has often been forced to play second fiddle to Petr Cech during his time in Arsenal, and he was extensively linked with a move to Turkish Super Lig club Fenerbahce FK, but the 28-year-old keeper has instead decided to stay and fight for the number one spot at the club.

Arsenal legend Martin Keown says there's little doubt that Arsenal need Alexis Sanchez at his very best if they're to realize their EPL title dreams this season. The former England defender is hoping Sanchez will give his all in what could be his final year in Arsenal.

Martin Keown said: “I do not think Sanchez is the kind of player to shut up shop.” The Chile international is into last 12-months of his contract and, after a summer of speculations, he actually looks set to remain at the club for the forthcoming Premier League season.
