Let's take a look at some of the most interesting results from day two of the women's draw at Wimbledon 2017. Six of the tennis players who reached the second round were Americans.

Vandeweghe, Mattek-Sands advanced to the second round

Coco Vandeweghe beat Mona Barthel in straight sets after one hour and 35 minutes of play. Coco was very aggressive the entire match, resulting in an easy victory. The 25-year-old American will play against Tatiana Maria of Germany in the second round.

Bethanie Mattek-Sands played a tough match against Magda Linette.

Bethanie didn't open the match very well, as she lost the first set 6-1. However, she managed to overcome the deficit and won the next two sets 6-2 6-3. Mattek-Sands will play against Sorana Cirstea in the next round.

World No.1 Angelique Kerber passed the first test of Wimbledon against American Irina Falconi, winning in straight sets after one hour and 30 minutes. Varvara Lepchenko won against Lauren Davis. The World No.68 beat Davis 6-4 7-5, reaching the second round of Wimbledon for the fourth time in her career. Lepchenko's next opponent will be Polona Herceg, who beat Anika Beck in straight sets.

McHale, Rogers, Riske all pass the first round

Karolina Pliskova is one of the favorites to win Wimbledon this year and she showed why in the first match.

She beat Russian Evgeniya Rodina 6-1 6-4 after just one hour and 13 minutes of play. The World No.3 will play against Magdalena Rybarikova in the second round.

Sloane Stephens returned to the tennis court after an injury, losing her first match this season against another American, Alison Riske. Stephens played her first match after almost a year away, so it's not surprising that she lost.

Riske's next opponent will be Kristina Mladenovic.

Christina McHale beat Katie Boulter in three sets after two hours and six minutes of play. McHale lost the first set and was down 2-0 in the third set, but she finally managed to win the match and advance to the second round, where she'll face Agnieszka Radwanska.

Shelby Rogers also passed her first opponent in the Wimbledon Championship.

She defeated another American player Julia Boserup in three sets. Rogers will play against Lucie Safarova in the next round.

In conclusion, let's mention a great performance by the Croatian player and qualifier Petra Martic, who defeated the 20th seed Daria Gavrilova. Martic won 10-8 in the deciding set.
