The cast of "Outlander" graced Ballroom 20 of the San Diego Convention Center much to the delight of fans. Returning to the 2017 San Diego Comic Con, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe shocked fans by sporting new hairstyles -- none less steamy than their TV-show looks though. The Starz hit TV show also delivered one of the biggest surprises at the event by screening the premiere episode of #OutlanderSeason3. Read on to learn more about what went down at #SDCC2017.

Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe sport new hairstyles

Over 4,000 fans flooded the "Outlander" panel at the San Diego Comic Con on Friday to witness two of the biggest TV stars right now -- Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe.

While the two looked as sexy as ever, there was something visibly different with the two. Both stars had new hairstyles!

Heughan had a shorter 'do, far different from his usual "Outlander" mane. The actor, who plays Jamie in the hit series, had a shorter, cleaner, brush-up, almost pompadour-like style. He might have chopped four to five inches off his iconic golden hair, but the makeover looked awesome on him. Sam Heughan's hair style change could be for his new movie with Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon, "The Spy Who Dumped Me."

As for Sam's co-star, Caitriona Balfe also surprised fans as she rocked her newly dressed up bangs.

The actress who plays Claire in "Outlander" was seen sporting a shorter, 60s-style hairdo for season 3. She was seen having long, wavy hair for the show's previous seasons. Aside from the bangs, she may have switched hair colors too -- from dark brown to almost black. While the hair change was evident, the two stars were still steaming and their chemistry ever so evident at the Comic Con panel.

'Outlander' season 3 episode 1 aired on SDCC 2017

Ballroom 20 at the San Diego Comic Con was filled with raving fans, hoping to hear a spoiler or two about the much awaited "Outlander" season 3. All 4,000 or so of the supporters who attended the panel were not disappointed as not only did the cast answered their questions, but the executive producers treated the fans by airing the premiere episode of the upcoming season.

Panel moderator Jenna Dewan Tatum initially teased a big reveal during the 90-minute panel. But it wasn't until 30 minutes into the question and answer portion when executive producer Ronald Moore revealed that they will be screening "Outlander" season 3 episode 1. Needless to say, the ballroom roared with excitement, joy, and disbelief.

The "Outlander" season 3 premiere episode kicked off with Claire back in Boston, 20 years after leaving Jamie. She reunites with Frank, but still longs for the Scot, Fraser. The upcoming season will feature several time jumps, but ultimately the two will meet again.

"Outlander" season 3 release date is set for Sept. 10 on Starz.
