The Boston Celtics seem to be the center of NBA trade rumors, with possible trade options available the Celtics are looking to build a strong team. Recently, Utah Jazz free agent Gordon Hayward signed a brand new contract to leave the Jazz and play for the Boston Celtics. Now that the team is making progress to acquire great players, it looks like a new option has opened to build their roster.

It turns out that the Celtics are interested in trading for Marc Gasol, the center of the Memphis Grizzlies. Apparently, some of the league executives have recognized Gasol as a potential target for the Celtics.

That said, rumors are that the Celtics are working their way to acquire Gasol in exchange for a "ready-made rebuilding package of players and picks."

Are the Grizzlies ready to trade Marc Gasol?

The Memphis Grizzlies are also looking at rebuilding their team, and considering the good options with the trade they might just give away their center Marc Gasol to the Boston Celtics. The chances are that the Grizzlies long time power forward Zach Randolph will be joining the Sacramento Kings. In that case, the Grizzlies might consider trading Marc Gasol if they get a good deal with the Celtics.

As for Zach Randolph, it is said that he will be joining the Kings with a two-year contract for $24 million.

According to Bleacher Report, Marc Gasol had one of the best seasons of his career last year. The NBA star averaged 19.5 points, with 4.6 assists, 1.3 blocks and 6.3 rebounds across 74 games. The 32-year-old player has developed into one of NBA's best centers through the years.

Memphis Grizzlies re-signed Mike Conley after Zach Randolph's departure

Looking at the Grizzlies standpoint, they probably want to retain some of their best players. After Zach Randolph's departure, the Grizzlies made a move and re-signed Mike Conley. Gasol is also one of their best players on the team, and they would not give him up easily unless the Celtics give the Memphis Grizzlies what they want.

On the other hand, the Boston Celtics seem to be the only team that could bring a package worthy of luring Gasol from the Grizzlies. It all depends on Danny Ainge as to who would he offer in return for Gasol. Ainge has good assets to trade for Gasol, but he would not give up some of the Celtics key players.

The Celtics are trying to keep its pace in the league's "superteam" era. They are building a strong team and that leaves room for more changes. The Celtics still have their options open to acquire Marc Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies.
