The Los Angeles Chargers have received bad news and are now fearing the worst concerning their first round pick, wide receiver Mike Williams. Also, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Geronimo Allison has been suspended and the investigation into Ezekiel Elliott has also been suspended.

Mike Williams may need season-ending back surgery

Mike Williams, who the Los Angeles Chargers selected with the seventh pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, may need back surgery that would cause him to miss his entire rookie season. The receiver recently got a second epidural on his herniated disk as a last-ditch effort to have him be ready at some point during the team's upcoming training camp.

There is a chance Williams could respond well and not need surgery for the injury he suffered last month.

However, if he does not respond well and the injury is more serious than originally thought, he will have to have surgery. Last season, Williams was one of the best receivers in college football, helping Clemson win the National Championship. He had 98 receptions for 1,361 yards and 11 touchdowns. It will be interesting to see how things pan out.

Allison gets suspended for one game

Green Bay Packers second-year wide receiver Geronimo Allison has been suspended without pay for the first game of the upcoming season for violating the league's substance abuse policy. The suspension stems from a traffic stop last September in which Allison was arrested for marijuana possession.

He was charged that December with a misdemeanor, but had it reduce to an ordinance violation in April after paying a fine.

The undrafted rookie out of Illinois made a surprise impact last season after injuries decimated the Packers receiving corps. He had 12 receptions for 202 yards and 2 touchdowns. Allison has spent most of the offseason practicing as the team's number four receiver.

Police investigation into Elliott suspended

Dallas police have announced that they have suspended their investigation into an alleged assault that sources said Dallas Cowboys star running back Ezekiel Elliott was involved in. They cited a lack of witnesses who saw the assault and an inability to contact the victim.

In a statement, Dallas police said that they made several attempts to contact the victim to no avail. They also added that no witnesses have come forward to give them any additional information about the assault that occurred Sunday night at a Dallas, Texas bar.
