This offseason we have been seeing a lot of contracts being handed out to many different players, and a lot of these contracts have been worth a lot of dollars. Recently, Detroit Pistons young star Kentavious Caldwell Pope agreed to a sign a one year, $18 million deal with the young and potentially great Los Angeles Lakers team. Caldwell Pope spent his first four years in the league as a member of the Detroit Pistons, those years helped him improve as a player and turned him from a boy to a man. He will now spend this season with the LA Lakers who have been a team on the peak of everybody’s minds recently due to the brilliance of their young rookie, Lonzo Ball and the chances at getting LeBron James in 2018.

Even though KCP is a close friend of LeBron’s and shares the same agent (Rich Paul) as the King, it seems odd to some why The Chosen One is speaking up on social media and congratulating him on his contract. Many look further into this and believe it could give us hints to LeBron’s future in the NBA.

The King gives a shout out to KCP on social media

Kentavious Caldwell Pope has added another chapter to his career and will earn a decent amount of money during it. After signing with the Lakers on a one year deal, KCP has become one of the highest paid young role players in the league. This is something that Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James had a lot of appreciation for, especially for a guy that is under the same agent as himself.

Rich Paul is a longtime friend of LeBron James and has become a very successful agent in the sporting world. He founded Klutch Sports Group and represents a number of iconic NBA stars including Eric Bledsoe, John Wall, Ben Simmons and of course, LeBron James.

Kentavious Caldwell Pope is honored to be apart of this elite company, and it has certainly paid off with this big Lakers contract.

They’ve faced off in the playoffs

In the first round of the 2016 NBA playoffs, these two buddies got the chance to face off against each other during the most important time in basketball. It didn’t go too well for the young Caldwell Pope and his Pistons squad as they got swept by the more experienced and more talented Cleveland Cavaliers team led by LeBron James and Kyrie Irving.

Although KCP did play significantly well in the series, averaging 15.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.8 steals per contest. This was obviously overmatched though by a guy named LeBron James who averaged a mere 23 points, 9 assists, 7 rebounds and 2 steals in the series.
