While last night's WWE "Extreme Rules" 2017 Fatal 5-Way match didn't work out in his favor, it looks like "The Architect" seth rollins may have another major career milestone on the way. New WWE rumors are suggesting that Rollins could very well find himself as the latest superstar to grace the cover of WWE's "2K" video series. The latest rumors are saying "WWE 2K18" which comes out later this year will have Rollins due to his overall body of work so far in his wrestling career.

Rollins cover rumors

The latest WWE rumors came from the Sportskeeda website which suggests that Rollins will be on the cover.

The website notes that Reddit user Mad Dog Managoff was the one who has correctly predicted previous installments of the game cover and may have done so again. If true, that means Seth Rollins will join previous superstars to grace the cover that included John Cena for "2K15," Stone Cold Steve Austin for "2K16," and most recently, Brock Lesnar on "2K17." Rollins would be the first "active" superstar on the cover in some time, as the last three stars are now legends or part-time workers.

Of course, this begs the question of why Seth Rollins might receive the cover over someone slightly more worthy. This year's "WrestleMania 33" may have been the final appearance by The Undertaker in a wrestling match for WWE.

One would think WWE might honor the legend with the cover, but possibly they have some DLC content or other specials up their sleeves for fans of "The Deadman."

Another option may have been to go with an exciting new star like Finn Balor or Shinsuke Nakamura. Both of these former NXT Championship winners have made major splashes on the main roster.

In particular, Balor won the Universal Championship, although his reign was cut short. So when looking at the options, WWE probably looked to stay away from the hate for Roman Reigns

So when looking at the options, WWE probably looked to stay away from the hate for Roman Reigns. In choosing Rollins, they still found a superstar with decent popularity amongst fans and championships on his resume.

'WWE 2K18' release date?

The big mystery in addition to who gets on the cover is also when the game will see its official release date. As of this report, there is no official word on that. However, "WWE 2K15" came out in the U.S. on October 28, 2014 (November for PS4/Xbox One), while "2K16" was on October 27, 2015, and "2K17" was on October 11, 2016. Those particular video game release dates may give some hints as to when fans can expect the latest installment. With the previous two arriving towards the end of October, it seems to make the most sense that "WWE 2K18" will follow a similar release schedule.

WWE fans, what do you think of the concept of Seth Rollins appearing on the cover of the upcoming "WWE 2K18" video game cover? Should Rollins be featured, or does someone else deserve it over him?
