It's just about that time for training camp and the build up to another exciting NFL season. NFL fans all over the world are chomping at the bit for any sort of News and updates on their favorite teams and players. Around the league, teams are meeting for their voluntary Ota's (organized team activities) and next weeks mandatory 3 day mini-camps, which will be the first mandatory meetings for teams before training camp begins in late July. Fans are starting to get back into the groove of following their teams

The Green Bay Packers offseason programs, like the other 31 teams, are up and running.

Here are some of the storylines coming out of Green Bay during the week of OTA's that true fans want and need to know.

Who was on the field and who wasn't

There were various players who did not attend OTA's this past week for a variety of reasons.

  • Cornerback Kevin King and Linebacker Josh Letuligasenoa were not able to attend the Packers OTA's until their college finals are complete. They are expected to attend next weeks mini-camp without issue.
  • Wide Receiver Trevor Davis had issues with his travel arrangements and simply did not make it in time to hit the field.
  • During the week, Defensive Tackle Izaah Lunsford left the field early with an apparent leg injury.
  • Cornerbacks Herb Walters and David Rivers, Outside Linebacker Vince Biegel, and Center Corey Linsley were held out of OTA's due to injuries.

Demetri Goodson injury update

Cornerback Demetri Goodsonsuffered one of the most catastrophic injuries an athlete can sustain.

He tore his ACL in a game against the Washington Redskins on November 20, 2016. This type of injury takes a player out for close to a year timespan, with healing and rehab. It's only been six months for Goodson and reports say that his knee is healing well ahead of schedule. According to Goodson, the "medical staff has discussed a potential return around the middle of training camp in August.".

Packers fans should be very encouraged by his progress.

When Goodson does eventually return, he will step into steep competition for a starting spot. There is strong talent amongst all six corners on the roster. Goodson's abilities on special teams will likely set him apart.

Don't get to bent out of shape over the injuries and things though.

There is a lot of time between now and training camp and the start of the regular season on Thursday September 7th. Especially since Packer fans hope that they are on the cusp of yet another championship.
