Matic set to join Manchester United

Nemanja Matic is keen on a possible reunion with Manchester United boss José Mourinho and Chelsea are surprisingly willing to let the 28-year-old midfielder make the move to Old Trafford this summer.

The Red Devils have been in close negotiations with the Blues over the midfielder and it is understood that a deal worth around $51m is close to being finalized, according to the Guardian. The 28-year-old midfielder was an integral part of Chelsea last term, playing thirty-five times in the EPL as they clinch the title. But the Blues are close to landing another holding midfielder: Tiemoue Bakayoko from French Ligue 1 club AS Monaco and Conte is happy for the Serbia international to go.

Manchester United boss José Mourinho is a huge fan of Nemanja Matic, having signed the Serbian for Chelsea FC in a $26m deal when he was Chelsea manager in 2014. Mourinho views the 28-year-old midfielder an ideal midfield successor to Michael Carrick and the type of midfielder who can bring out the best of world-record signing Paul Labile Pogba, who they signed last summer.

The Serbia international becomes the second major signing made by José Mourinho this summer, following the $38m arrival of Lisbon Benfica centre-back Victor Lindelof.
