History was made today at the Pembroke Pines City Center in Pembroke Pine City, Florida, as Titan Fighting Championship flyweight champion Jose Torres earned a second belt in a second weight class.

Torres who usually fights at 125-pounds, moved up in weight to take on the organization's 135-pound champion Farkhad Sharipov in the main event of tonight’s Titan FC 44.

It was the first time in the history of the Titan FC organization that one fighter dared to hold two titles in two different weight classes at the same time. Torres won tonight's headlining fight via unanimous decision (48-47, 49-46, 48-47).

Shorty on the rise

Last summer, beginning at Titan FC 40, Sharipov too part in a four-man bantamweight tournament where he beat Bruce Lutchmedial by a split decision. He later faced Andrew Whitney in the finals two events later, where captured the bantamweight title via unanimous decision.

Torres is one of the top prospects in the sports of Mixed Martial Arts. He won his 125-pound title with a second round knockout over Abdiel Velasquez in 2016. He then defeated UFC veteran Pedro Nobre via first round technical knockout (TKO).

After tonight's fight against Sharipov, Torres stated his case for a shot in the UFC and requested a fight on July 8 granted that his hand was not broken or severely injured as a result of tonight's five-round war.

Since turning pro, Torres has amassed a perfect 6-0 record and is now a two-title holder in two separate weight divisions. At 24-years of age, the sky is the limit for "Shorty."

Torres was a two-time International Mixed Martial Arts Federation world champion as an amateur and was ranked the "world's best amateur fighter" before being signed to Titan.

He has 30 amateur fights to his credit before making the decision to turn pro. His experience in the cage is unmatched for his age and skill level.

Also on tonight's Titan FC 44 fight card, in an exciting match-up of former Titan Champions, Kurt Holobaugh faced Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante in a battle for the Titan FC interim lightweight championship.

Holobaugh won the fight and the belt with a TKO (referee stoppage) at 2:45 in the second round.
