Ultimate Fighting Championship megastar and current lightweight champion Conor McGregor is officially a father. McGregor's longtime girlfriend Dee Devlin gave birth to a Baby Boy which the couple aptly named Conor Jack McGregor. The baby's birth came at 8 p.m. last night at the Coombe Hospital in Dublin, Ireland. Young Conor weighed in at 8 pounds, 14 ounces (4kgs).

A delighted grandfather, Tony McGregor, told the Irish Mirror that mum and baby are both doing well.

He said: “There’s great news for the McGregor’s and the Devlins. The whole family are absolutely delighted.

We’ve experienced this recently with our eldest daughter and there’s no better feeling in the world than being a grandparent. The parents are absolutely over the moon and everyone is healthy.”

McGregor and Devlin have already set up a verified Instagram account with the name Conor McGregor Jr., for their son, making him the youngest celebrity on social media.

Love at first sight

The couple, which met in a club more than eight years ago are both first time parents. After his fight with then champion Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden in November, McGregor confirmed rumors that Devlin was indeed pregnant.

In 2013, McGregor said that he 'one hundred percent' agrees that behind every great man is a greater woman.

“Every day, since I started out in this game, she’s supported me,” McGregor has said over and over again in interviews. He states that she has stayed with him through the roughest of times and even when he almost walked away from the sport before becoming biggest star in mixed martial arts.

The 28-year old UFC superstar is the highest paid athlete in UFC history and was involved in the highest selling pay-per-view in UFC history with 1,650,000 buys.

McGregor has been lobbying for a boxing match with the sports biggest draw and arguably best boxer in the game, Floyd Mayweather Jr. The on again, off again speculation of the potential superfight has made the matchup even more entertaining. UFC President Dana White once thought the McGregor-Mayweather fight was something that could possibly never take place.

Now with dollar signs in his eyes, White believes the fight could potentially take place, but the question is when?

No official date has been set for the potential superfight or any information on if it will actually take place or not. If the fight does not happen it is expected that McGregor would return and defend his lightweight title in his next fight.
