The latest episode of "SmackDown Live" on Tuesday, April 25th featured a title on the line, new title contenders being decided, and a major championship belt being taken away. Among the superstars in action were Charlotte Flair, Naomi, American Alpha, AJ Styles, Baron Corbin, Randy Orton, Erick Rowan, and more.

Here's a look at what went down just days ahead of the big WWE "Payback" pay-per-view with several of the superstars involved in the event and next month's "Backlash" competing at "SmackDown."

Latest match results

Shinsuke Nakamura had an in-ring interview going on until Dolph Ziggler interrupted.

Ziggler tried to ask some questions but then simply started insulting "The King of Strong Style." However, Nakamura had enough and responded in Japanese to call out Ziggler. Dolph tried to attack only to be hit by a belly-to-belly suplex and fled the ring.

AJ Styles and Baron Corbin had a rematch after last week's turmoil. US Champion Kevin Owens was at ringside again, but this time he chose to get involved, attacking Styles. Corbin began to assist with the double team until Sami Zayn rushed down to the ring. He was able to fight off the heels a bit, but Owens eventually got the best of him and Styles, hitting a pop-up powerbomb on "The Phenomenal One."

There was two tag team "Beat the Clock" matches with the winning team with the fastest win time getting to face The Usos for the titles.

In the first match, American Alpha won in just over five minutes against The Colons. However, the team of Breezeango won even faster, defeating The Ascension in about half that time. They'll get a shot at the champs.

Randy Orton and Erick Rowan faced off in a No Disqualification match. Towards the end, Rowan gained control and slammed half the steel steps against Orton outside the ring.

Back inside, Rowan put a chair in the corner and tried to throw Orton against it, but Randy stopped short, then stepped to the side as Rowan ran head first into the chair.

From there, Orton hit the RKO to get the big win ahead of his "House of Horrors" match on Sunday. However, after the match, Orton was interrupted by Jinder Mahal.

As the two got into a scuffle, Mahal's crew, The Singh Brothers, grabbed Orton and helped Jinder put him down to the mat. From there, Jinder backed up the ramp raising Orton's championship belt overhead.

Charlotte Flair and Naomi battled over the WWE "SmackDown" Women's title. The match was a great back-and-forth battle which saw Charlotte go for her big reversemoonsault off the corner. Naomi put up both knees and blocked it. The two women recovered for a bit with Naomi getting to her feet near the ropes. However, she was suddenly yanked out of the ring by Natalya as Carmella and Tamina rushed the ring to attack Charlotte. The three heels kept up the attack, eventually leaving Charlotte laid out in the ring.

Fans chanted "We Want Becky, In addition" but it was to no avail.

WWE 'Backlash' implications?

Several of the matches on the latest episode of WWE "SmackDown Live" may have given some "Backlash" PPV implications. In particular, Breezeango became the new No. 1 contenders for the tag team titles. They'll face The Usos as the pay-per-view for the chaAlso, Jinder Mahal has started to get more aggressive towards Randy Orton, especially after tonight's attack and stealing away his title belt.

If that wasn't enough, it seems there could be a three-on-three women's match developing. After Charlotte, Natalya and Tamina attacked Charlotte and Naomi; it looks like maybe Becky Lynch could team up with the other two women to face the new heel stable.

If it's not at the PPV, then it probably will end up on WWE "SmackDown" in the future.

Also, Kevin Owens and AJ Styles' impending United States title match was built up a bit more as Owens had the attack on Styles. Most likely, Sami Zayn will team with AJ to face Owens and Corbin next week on the show.
