Much of the second day’s play of the first Test between west indies and Pakistan on 22 April 2017 was ruined due to rain. Heavy rains in the night and improper covering of the ground led to a four-hour delay in the start of the game.

Heavy showers have been predicted for all five days of the match, but the test will be memorable for some reasons.

It is a series when two senior most players, Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan will be bidding farewell to cricket. With the weather playing villain, the interest on the third day was Younis Khan completing his 10000 runs and joining an exclusive club. He accomplished it just after tea, and then the score picked up.

The West Indies pace battery was tired, and the spinners led by Devendra Bishoo was easy picking for the batsmen who like others from the subcontinent had complete disdain for a spin.

Younis and Babar Azam continued their 131 runs stand for the third wicket before Captain Jason Holder brought in Shannon Gabriel who did not disappoint the confidence placed by his skipped and got the prized scalp of Younis Khan.

He made a meaty 57 and helped to steady the visitors’ score which was tottering at 54 for 2. In the next over he again scalped Babar who made a resolute 72 off 201 deliveries.

At the end of the day, Misbah-ul-Haq and Asad Shafiq were batting and again play was stopped because of failing light.
