Former Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett is seen as the logical choice to be the top overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft, but the Cleveland Browns may have other things in mind. The Browns did acquire Brock Osweiler recently, but the belief is that he will eventually be dealt.

The Cleveland Browns can easily pluck Garrett, easily the best of the best in the coming draft. However, the decision is not a sure one with the Browns believed to be prioritizing their need for a quarterback above other available positions.

Myles Garrett sends fair warning

Being the top overall pick means a lot to budding athletes, and Garrett is a perfect example. Under normal circumstances, he could be donning the Browns uniform if coach Hue Jackson is to address his quarterback woes through other means.

Osweiler, coming off a forgettable season, could do. The Browns could use the wait-and-see approach and then move if he fails to pan out. If this is the scenario, there is no question that Garrett will be their overall pick.

But there is the looming trade angle involving Osweiler. He carries a hefty salary, and the Browns need to be convinced that he is "the guy" and that he can recover from his poor stint with the Houston Texans.

Is there quarterback worth picking no. 1

The Browns do own the no. 1 and no. 12 pick, giving them options on who to select first. Seeing that there are no quarterbacks that stand out, selecting Myles Garrett with the no. 1 pick is an obvious choice.

Then again, the Browns could use that privilege by trading off the top pick for tested players.

That will include a quarterback with the rest filling in key positions for the Browns.

There is also the NFL free agent market. The names of Colin Kaepernick or Johnny Manziel could ring a bell, provided they get their act together. Their off-field antics have tainted their respective careers, so gambling on them will depend on the assessment of Jackson and his staff.

Right now, the Browns know their options and where they can get additional workforce. It all depends on how they can rebuild the Browns and put an end to their dismal seasons. Garrett could be a piece of the puzzle so overhauling Cleveland will include addressing their needs in all positions.

Without question, Myles Garrett is the hands-down choice to be the first pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Unless the Browns are up to something, expect the 21-year-old defensive end to be this year’s top pick.
