The Green Bay Packers are one of the most storied franchises in the NFL. Over the years, the team has consistently produced top talent in order to get to the next level. If other teams want to learn from their example, they have proven that they are the best at what they do because they draft at a high level. In addition, they have had great quarterback play for nearly 20 years. When Brett Favre was getting close to retirement, the team spent a first round draft pick on Aaron Rodgers. The team saw his potential, and they knew that he would be a good fit in their system.
That decision turned out to be a great one as he has done a lot of good work for the team over the years. Not only that, but he is also the type of quarterback who can turn around a team. The problem is that Super Bowls have been hard to come by. Fans are starting to wonder aloud about when the team will return to the big game.
Aaron Rodgers
One of the biggest reasons for the success of the Packers is that Aaron Rodgers is a top five NFL quarterback. The problem with this is that he is not young anymore. Although he still has five to seven years of good play left in him, the team has to start thinking about how they are going to win now. The offense is one of the best in the league with all of the weapons that they have.
Ty Montgomery out of Stanford has been a nice pick up for the team, and they are excited about the potential for the future. However, the team has to start to take advantage of how they can win now. After getting blown out by the Falcons in the NFC Championship game, the critics are starting to get louder.
Defense
The defense is the biggest issue that the Packers have right now.
Although in the past the defense has been solid, down the stretch they simply allowed too many big plays. Over time, this is going to be a major issue if it is not fixed. Looking at the 2017 team, the team knows that they have to start improving this area of the team. If not, it will be much of the same issues that have plagued them in the past.
