There has been a lot of speculation that TNA Impact Wrestling may not even be around in 2017, but it is still kicking. Currently, the company is looking to merely get through this week's taping and make it to March to see where they can go from there. If they're able to sign a former WWE Champion, things may start looking up for them. Rumor has it that Alberto El Patron (Alberto Del Rio in WWE) could be on his way to TNA. PW Insider is reporting that he is currently in talks with the promotion, but no deal had been made as of earlier this week.

Alberto Del Rio and TNA have been talking for months

While talks are continuing between Del Rio and TNA, they are actually nothing new. On Sept. 9, 2016, Alberto Del Rio had been officially released from WWE yet again after having been suspended for violating the company's wellness policy. It was his second release from WWE in a period of little more than two years.

During his short second stint, he did win the United States Championship a couple of times and was even a member of the League of Nations stable. Once he was released, though, talks with TNA started up almost immediately and have continued through the end of 2016.

With the TNA tapings this week in Orlando, Alberto Del Rio could end up making his debut for the company, but that has not yet been confirmed.

TNA officials are said to be taking things quietly right now, and not having any major creative or roster changes for the time being.

How will this affect Paige's status with WWE?

Paige is currently still recovering from an injury and is expected to return soon, but she is still in a relationship with Alberto Del Rio. Not only are they dating, but Del Rio recently proposed to Paige back in October, and the two will eventually be married.

Some rumors have been floating around that Paige may actually be present, but there is no confirmation that the former WWE Divas Champion is with child. She has been out of action since June due to two suspensions in a row for violating the company's wellness policy and then an injury. Her first suspension came at the same time as Del Rio's, and that eventually led to his release from the company.

Now, it is not known if Paige is looking to get out of her contract with WWE at all. She was even spotted backstage at this week's "Monday Night Raw," but she was not seen on camera. No matter what may happen with Alberto Del Rio, whether it is TNA or somewhere else, Paige would likely join him if she ever parts ways with WWE.
