For quite some time now, there has been turmoil inside professional #Tennis. If in the men`s tennis the issues are revolving around Roger Federer and his uncertain future, when it comes to the WTA Tour, it is Serena Williams seizing up all the question marks. The 35-year-old tennis star went on a slide in 2016 without her usual successes. If it were not for the Wimbledon success, she could very well call this season a complete loss. With so many new names forcing their luck to the summit, it seems that the women`s tennis is shifting to a brand new era.

If it were not for the Wimbledon success, she could very well call this season a complete loss. With so many new names forcing their luck to the summit, it seems that the women`s tennis is shifting to a brand new era.

Serena will end the season as the world no. 2

Following her huge upset at the US Open, Serena Williams made the same moves as she did in 2015. She pulled out of the indoor swing including the WTA Finals in Singapore. Being defeated in the US Open semis she also lost the WTA crown in favor of Angelique Kerber. After three and a half years, Serena saw her kingdom being outshone by others.

The season of 2012 was the previous one finding Serena with a year's end ranking other than the world no. 1. Back in 2013, in February, Williams made her last ascension to the top and seized that position until the last September.

Despite looking solid, her ranking position is still in danger with a possible downfall still to come. In the early stages of 2017, she`ll have to defend her previous result at the Australian Open and judging by the latest result it`ll be a difficult task.

One great achievement still waits to be taken

In terms of stunning records, #Serena Williams set the bar to a celestial level, but she might want to tear apart one more wall. By winning the Wimbledon Championships in the summer of 2016 she leveled Steffi Graf, both athletes having won 22 Grand Slam titles in singles each. For the next season, to beat that might be the ultimate challenge for Williams.

Despite her age, she is still in the zone for that particular achievement. In 2016, despite prevailing on a sole Grand Slam, she did play three finals. But at the Australian Open and then at the French Open it was the opponent putting in a great deal of effort and motivation. #Celebrities
