This summer, her pile enriched with 2 more titles and her act on the court is getting better and better.

Simona Halep has great stats on the American hardcourt

In the past 2 years, Simona Halephas been one of the players able to maintain a certain pace without that much damage to her ranking position. In 2016, she did have a slow start with poor results but once she regained her best pace, the amount of high quality Tennis she was able to put in was huge. In numbers it translated into 3 WTA ttiles with the most recent one in Montreal. Last week she made a great run in Cincinnati, where she was outshined in the semifinals by Angelique Kerber.

The quest for US Open glory

Simona Halep, ranked as world no.

5 will have a difficult task ahead at the US Open. Her ranking position means that she will be seeded fifth. That makes the quest even harder to complete. In the quarterfinals she might play against one of the top 4 players, namely Serena Williams, Angelique Kerber, Garbine Muguruza, and Agnieszka Radwanska. That`s just a projection without certainty value, but even so, it`ll be hard.

Moreover, Halep will have to handle the pressure as she has to defend her last year result which translates into 700 WTA points.

Signs of improvement in that direction exist, with Halep being able to defend most of the points during the past months. In most cases, she surpassed her last year results, the only exception being in Cincinnati where she failed to reach the final act for the second time in a row. At 24 years of age, it seems that she reached a new level of sports maturity. If she wants to be a big part of this tennis era, Simona Halep must win a Grand Slam as soon as possible.
