Liverpool advanced to the next round of the FA Cup with an easy 3-0 victory at Anfield on Wednesday over League Two side – Exeter City. The home side took an early lead at the start of the game and then they continued their great performance by scoring another goal. It was a strong display from Anfield giants, who dominated the game and they never looked truly threatened. Jurgen Klopp’s side moved into the fourth round where they will face West Ham United.

Early lead

Jurgen Klopp decided to mix his first-team stars with younger players as he named Simon Mignolet, Christian Benteke and Jordon Ibe in the starting line-up. The Reds started the game really well. They dominated the early stages of the match and they took advantage of it, as Joe Allen finished off a brilliant team action from six yards in the 10th minute. Christian Benteke should have doubled the lead ten minutes later, but he headed the ball just over the bar.

Second half

At the start of the second half Joe Flanagan was greeted with a standing ovation from Liverpool’s fans as he returned after 20-month absence. A few minutes later, Jordon Ibe was close to score his first goal at the Anfield Road, but he only hit the crossbar.

Finally, in the 74th minute Liverpool got their second goal of the game as substitute striker Sheyi Ojo scored from outside of the penalty-box into the top left corner with a brilliant strike. It was his debut goal for the Liverpool and his joy was huge. Later on, Liverpool wrapped up the victory after 81 minutes, when youngster Teixeira took advantage of a great pass from Christian Benteke and he buried his shot into the left corner.

Good performance from Benteke

The Belgian striker Christian Benteke played a great game as he recorded two assist, but he had problems with scoring goals. In the last minutes of the game he had two great chances, but the goalkeeper saved his good efforts. Liverpool completed a 3-0 victory but that game could have had a much higher scoreline. The Reds play their next game on Saturday when they face Norwich City.
