Universal Pictures released the first official trailer for "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" yesterday online. The film, starring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Jeff Goldblum will be set for theaters on June 22, 2018. The sequel to 2015's "Jurassic World" was a direct sequel to Steven Spielberg's 1993 mass-hit, "Jurassic Park."

As of 11:30 CT on December 8, the official trailer video posted on Youtube had already 9.7 million views and the official Jurassic World Facebook page's video had just over 15 million views and counting. Its Twitter post already has at least 40,000 retweets and counting.

What we know

The trailer reveals a few key things in the film. First of all the return of Jeff Goldblum's character, Dr. Ian Malcolm, who was a main character in the first two Jurassic Park films and novels. He even says his famous "Life, finds a way" line in the voice over in the trailer. It is hard to know just how much of the movie he is in, but he clearly has some importance. Dr. Henry Wu, played by BD Wong will also be returning after being in both "Jurassic Park" and "Jurassic World."

Being a direct sequel from "Jurassic World," it shows that Chris Pratt's character Owen and Bryce Dallas Howard's character Claire are once again the two main characters in the film.

They reveal that one of Pratt's raptors from the first film, "Blue" is still on the island and they need to look for him. The situation of the island itself appears to be that the dinosaurs are roaming free as the park is abandoned and the animals are in danger of because of a volcanic eruption. Kind of looking like one of the original extinction theories of the real dinosaurs.

Probably the best sequence of the trailer is showing the possible allegiance between the humans and old "Rexy." The rest of the story seems to be a mystery until the movie comes out, but it gives the overall idea that the dinosaurs on the island are facing possible extinction and the humans try to save what they can.

Film details

The movie will be coming out this upcoming summer. The film was directed by J. A. Bayona, and this is his first Jurassic World film. Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly were the screenwriters with Michael Crichton, the writer of the first two "Jurassic Park" novels, also credited for characters featured from original stories.

The last film made roughly $1.6 billion worldwide in 2015 and it could be expected that this upcoming one will also reach the billion mark. Whether it looks like it could live up to "Jurassic World" or not, people will pay to see it as it is a very popular franchise.
