In what was probably the most significant scene of the entire "Game of Thrones" series, we saw the Children of the Forest performing a ritual. They captured a man, tied him to a tree, and then Leaf shoved a piece of dragonglass into his chest, turning him into the Night King. And we know that simply because the man tied to a tree was played by the same actor that portraits the Night King.
With all this in mind, we assume that the Night King is the first White Walker. But what if he isn't? What if we are all mistaken? Bear with us, as we further explore this possibility.
The scene breakdown
Bran's flashback of the Night King's creation was enlightening, to say the least, but it was because of what happened after that we think this vision wasn't what it appeared to be. "It was you, you made the White Walkers," Bran said to Leaf when he woke up. And she said that they needed protection from men. But here's the thing. Leaf didn't know what exactly Bran saw. She just assumed that Bran's vision was about the creation of the original White Walkers. And that's why she responded affirmatively. But what if the Night King's creation was something that happened after? If so, who is he? Read on, and you will find out.
The theory
If you are familiar with the legend of the Last Hero, you probably know the tale of his quest to find the Children of The Forest.
He went far North with a dozen companions, a horse, and a dog. They all died along the way, but the Last Hero was eventually able to find the Children. And the next thing we know the Others were banished into the Lands of Always Winter, the Wall was built, and the Long Night officially ended. But what happened once the hero found the Children remains a mystery to this day.
Now, according to YouTube user bridge4, Bran's flashback described above actually showed what happened when the Last Hero finally found the Children of The Forest, meaning that the entity we now know as the Night King was the Last Hero (Azor Ahai), before he was turned. After all, Leaf said that they created the White Walkers to protect themselves from men, and the Long Night happened thousands of years after the Pact between Children and First Men.
So, bridge4 thinks that the creation of the White Walkers happened much earlier and that Bran saw the Last Hero being turned into the Night King. He even goes as far as to say that the Last Hero sacrificed himself to be able to control the White Walkers and end the war by leading them back into the Lands of Always Winter.
However, we don't think the Last Hero turned himself over willingly to the Children. We believe that he was tricked and that's why he wants revenge. You can watch bridge4's video down below.
