While the next season of "Dancing With The Stars" will have a sports theme, it will not have Dale Earnhardt Jr. The retired race car driver confirmed this via Twitter in response to rumors of his involvement.

All athlete 'Dancing With the Stars' in 2018

The 25th season of "Dancing With the Stars" ended last week on November 21 with much fanfare. Just before the ending credits rolled, host Tom Bergeron announced that the next edition of the reality TV show will have an all athlete cast. ABC later confirmed this by saying that ten athletes from the world of sports would compete in their Spring 2018 dancing competition.

While sports stars are not new to the show, everyone is looking for the names of these 10 athletes that will grace the stage next year, leading to unsupported rumors. One such rumor was about Dale Earnhardt Jr.

NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr denies rumors of his involvement

The Charlotte Observer claimed that ABC was pursuing the race car driver in the November 28, 2017, edition of the newspaper. They claimed that this news came from an unidentified source through the gossip website Hollywood Life. The article states that Earnhardt is just one of several Nascar drivers planned for the next season of Stars, alongside other notable athletes such as the NFL’s Colin Kaepernick. While Kaepernick has yet to respond to these rumors, Earnhardt has reiterated that he has no desire to be on the show.

This is not the first time Dale Earnhardt Jr expressed his disinterest in the "Dancing With the Stars." He has always denied every claim that said he was a sure bet for the show. This time, as a response to the Observer’s Adam Stern about his inclusion in the 2018 Stars broadcast, Earnhardt replies with an animated GIF about his feelings for the show and the current rumors.

He will not be on the show. All he will be doing next year serving as a sports reporter for NBC Sports starting with Super Bowl XLIX in Minneapolis.

As of now, ABC has yet to announce which stars they will showcase on the next "Dancing With the Stars", which is expected to run for only four weeks. There are currently no other rumors either as well.

Fans of the shows and sports must wait a little longer before we hear anything.

For now, all we have is "Dancing With the Stars" Live which features Mirrorball Champion Jordan Fisher and actor/race car driver Frankie Muniz with their professional partners Lindsay Arnold and Witney Carson. The tour, called “Light Up the Night” will travel around the country starting on December 30, 2017, in Charlotte, NC, and end in Los Angeles on March 18, 2018.
