It’s the Halloween season, which means it’s the season of Trick or Treats, costumes, and scary movies. However, there are some who are not fans of the horror genre and prefer to sleep through the night without worrying of the beings popping out.

Luckily, there are great Halloween movies out there that are not in the horror genre. Sure they feature ghosts, or witches or creepy people, but these movies are not scary. Here are some of the classic Halloween Films that are not scary.

Halloweentown

A Disney original and classic Halloween film from 1998, there’s no way this film won’t be played on Halloween night.

First of the four-part installment, “Halloweentown” follows young Marnie Piper and her siblings who discover that their grandmother, Aggie (played by Debbie Reynolds), is a witch from the fantasy alternate universe called Halloweentown.

Casper Meets Wendy

Who hasn’t heard of Casper the friendly ghost and Hilary Duff? This other classic Halloween movie (also from 1998) that brings together Casper with Wendy the Good Little Witch played by Duff in “Casper Meets Wendy”.

The story follows Wendy and her three witch aunts as they hide her from Desmond Spellman, an evil warlock, who seeks to get rid of her.

Meanwhile, Casper’s three uncles plan a vacation in a resort hotel where the four witches and four ghosts meet and form an unlikely friendship.

Hocus Pocus

First released in 1993, this Disney original is almost annually aired on Disney Channel during Halloween season – making it another Halloween favorite. The film stars Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker, and is directed by Kenny Ortega.

The film follows a teenager, Max, his sister, Dani who accidentally resurrected three witches – the Sanderson sisters. The three witches plan to suck out the souls of all the children in Salem. Max, Dani along with Max’s friend, Allison, embark on an adventure to stop the Sanderson sisters' plan.

The Addams Family

Based on the cartoon of the same name by Charles Addams, “The Addams Family” debuted in 1991.

An iconic ghoulish family with the members famous for their oddly fascinating personalities. In the film, a con artist and her son try to steal the Addams’ family wealth by the son pretending to be Gomez’s long-lost brother, Fester. The film is filled with many of the Addams family eccentric and outlandish acts, making a must watch on Halloween night.

Ghostbusters

Be it the original one from 1984, or the remake in 2016, “Ghostbusters” is an iconic film even if it’s not Halloween. Even the “Stranger Things” gang are in the “Ghostbusters” spirit for Halloween! The story follows a team of parapsychologists to investigate the ghost population taking over New York City. The investigation eventually leads to the iconic scene of Stay Puft Marshmallow Man attacking the city.
